Hundreds of people have attended a 'Freedom Rally' in a small town in Washington on Saturday after its mayor refused to enforce the state's COVID restrictions on businesses, citing 'the Constitutional rights of small town America'.
Large crowds joined the Patriot Prayer-organized rally in Mossyrock, a rural community in Lewis County between Seattle and Portland, with maskless protesters waving flags and chanting against 'government oppression'.
It came after the town unexpectedly voted last month to ignore Washington Governor Jay Inslee's state-wide business restrictions to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
He told DailyMail.com: 'The governor has over-stepped his powers and has no right to shut down our livelihoods. Everybody has the right to wear or not wear a mask. It comes back to our Constitutional rights to be able to do what we want to do and protect the rights of small town America.'
Mayor Sasser also said that was concerned that reporting on COVID deaths had eclipsed issues such as rising suicide and domestic violence cases.
'We’ve had a total, as of today [November 27], of 14 deaths due to COVID, unfortunately.
'So far this year, we’ve had 10 suicides, and last year there was only three suicides in Lewis County. So when we look at the shutdowns and everything that’s happening and there’s no data that says the Mossyrock area 98564 zip code has any cases or deaths, why then should we suffer as a city and as citizens following the governor’s mandate?'
He added: 'Early on, I thought it was a financial thing, but I believe it’s more of a control than anything else. I believe that they want to be able to control us and tell us what we need to do and get us accustomed to always following what they say.

Power to the people.
I visited Cougar Washington during the summer. Entered a bar there and were instructed to remove our masks... “we don’t do that here”. My buddies and I had a great laugh and a good stay in a place that truly felt like America.
Gee, no bias in that headline, eh?
I want to go.
They need to sell tshirts: I went to Cougar WA and all I got was this lousy tshirt.
Guaranteed covid will be transported to and released into Mossyrock.
It’s a truly amazing place. Deep interior of the state, deep woods, shadow of South Mt St Helens, massive reservoir for boating. We were on a 3 day motorcycle trip... total dude thing...
Here’s a video of our journey where we visit Mt Rainier, St Helens, Hood, and Mt Adams. Mayhem with rock music...

Let’s Roll!!!
This is how it starts!!! Local, local, local. Be brave!
Stop. Wearing. Your. Mask.
Just stop!!! Be the New Resistance! They won’t arrest you or kick you out if you don’t wear one. They always give warnings. Just say, “oops!” and put it on, then turn your back, walk 10 paces, and pull it down. Rinse, repeat.
Cowardice is contagious. But so is Bravery! Be brave. It’s fun!!!
Nice part of the world, and there are some impressive lava tubes not far from Cougar. My siblings and I still own some timberland near Yacolt, and one of my brothers lives in Camas. I haven’t been up that way in quite a while, but I really should visit my brother sometime.

I only go out once a week and wear a mask to avoid a beating from a Karen. It's just a neck gaiter; easy to pull up as needed. It doesn't do a thing except SHUT YOU UP, KAREN! ;)
Probably be a solo trip if I ever make it.
No actual friends. Spousal unit would not be interested.
Eventually I will get that cb750 roadworthy.
A former co-irker spoke of the many long distance rides across the country.
Freedom
My kinda town!
“Hero” Mayor
Herd immunity. Sounds good.
I did that ride on the old honda v45 with my wife back when I lived in Seattle. Beautiful area.
WA: Population - 7.5 million; COVID deaths -1.5k or so in three counties around Seattle.
