The new Covid-19 vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna seem to be remarkably good at preventing serious illness. But it’s unclear how well they will curb the spread of the coronavirus.
That’s because the Pfizer and Moderna trials tracked only how many vaccinated people became sick with Covid-19. That leaves open the possibility that some vaccinated people get infected without developing symptoms, and could then silently transmit the virus — especially if they come in close contact with others or stop wearing masks.
If vaccinated people are silent spreaders of the virus, they may keep it circulating in their communities, putting unvaccinated people at risk.
“A lot of people are thinking that once they get vaccinated, they’re not going to have to wear masks anymore,” said Michal Tal, an immunologist at Stanford University. “It’s really going to be critical for them to know if they have to keep wearing masks, because they could still be contagious.”
In most respiratory infections, including the new coronavirus, the nose is the main port of entry. The virus rapidly multiplies there, jolting the immune system to produce a type of antibodies that are specific to mucosa, the moist tissue lining the nose, mouth, lungs and stomach. If the same person is exposed to the virus a second time, those antibodies, as well as immune cells that remember the virus, rapidly shut down the virus in the nose before it gets a chance to take hold elsewhere in the body.

“I’ve seen no evidence asymptomatic people transmit the disease.”
What’s odd is that nobody knows where they got it. Nobody ever remembers being near a sick person who was feverish, coughing or sneezing. The people I know personally who have caught don’t ever recall being near a sick person. The people that I know who know somebody who got it report the same thing.
Of course, that’s also true for colds and influenza. I don’t think I’ve ever recalled being near a sick person before I’ve caught a cold.
It seems like this suggests asymptomatic transmission, doesn’t it?
It’s a smart virus, I tell you. It doesn’t work from 10 PM to 6 AM in many places. It goes to sleep when you put your mask on and wakes up when you take it off.

Nope. I catch colds from people who aren’t feeling well and go to work anyway.
Yep, the millennials come in sick ALL the time. Why take a day off when your not feeling well, sick days are for road trips and mini-vacations.

The Chinese did a contact tracing study of 10MM Wuhanese and found no instances of asymptomatic transmission.

Normally, I would be happy to be resistant to yet another disease. But I simply don’t trust this one. I’m more than willing to wait.

This idea of protection has been used for other things besides protection. I’m a firm believer that keeping people inside and forcing the mail in vote was accomplished to compromise the election, not keep most of the people from getting the virus.
There are people out here that getting this beast most likely means death. But the average person and youth can carry it well with a normal immune deficiency system and good overall health. This is why all these considerations that were given like extra hospital space, mercy ships to two major cities, all kinds of breathing machines that were purchased (all basically not used), and masks that were purchased and never got here with the money going back into personal funds of some of our oh so trusted governors, to combat something that a vast majority of everyone except those in certain situations, was a waste of time and money. Even after all this time and funds, and even though the CDC has said they are not fool proof, we still walk around in masks because the effort to BS the election has forced them to a commitment they don’t know how to get out of unless to lie on the God given vaccine they made in 15 minutes they are frightened of that has been approved prematurely.

No vaccine. No mask wearing. None of it. Time to move on.
If I remember correctly, there were around 30,000 subjects that were tested and the vaccines were around 94% effective, which means 1,800 got the virus.
How difficult would it have been to have a bunch of subjects wear masks and see how much virus got out? Compare those with and without virus.
Heck, we don’t even know much virus it takes to get infected (the distribution of outcomes).
