Redskins was a slur, I get that. But what’s offensive about Indians?

India. Our Native Americans aren’t from India.

How about just changing the mascot to a woman wearing a sari, or a Hindu Swami? Bang, presto, it isn’t offensive anymore.

The way the Redskin team name came about was far from a slur but that has been lost in history. I wish I could remember the story, but it was told from the POV of an Indian years ago.

But what’s offensive about Indians? And, why is Indians offensive but not Fighting Irish or Celtics?
Or is Celtics racist because it implies white basketball players are superior?
