Liberal Hollywood ladies are petitioning the incoming Biden Administration to appoint a specific congresswoman to the president’s cabinet and it won’t surprise you to find out that it is due to identity politics. And Mother Earth.
Rep. Deb Haaland (D-NM), first elected in 2018, is the woke choice for Secretary of the Department of the Interior according to an open letter sent to President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. Organized by Marisa Tomei and her group We Stand United, the letter was signed by a host of liberal women’s and native groups, along with the usual Hollywood suspects like Cher, Rosario Dawson, America Ferrera, Jane Fonda, Chelsea Handler, Alyssa Milano, Julianne Moore, Mandy Moore, Piper Perabo, Zoe Saldana, Amy Schumer, Sarah Silverman, and Kerry Washington.
The letter itself is pretty ridiculous, it begins by congratulating the Biden-Harris ticket on their “historic victory” with the women “relieved that you will be leading us into a bright future.”
After endorsing Haaland, they get all new age-y:
We are alive at a time when each of our actions will determine the fate of the natural world, which we call Mother Earth. We call her Mother because without her life would not exist. The life support system that she provides, which is also called the climate, is now under terrible strain. Fortunately despite all of the struggles we have endured, Native people hold a sacred connection to the natural world at the moment when the human species need it most. The Department of Interior will play a critical role in your Administration to both address the climate crisis and to honor the Indigenous people of this country.

On the average, Indians were no more knowledgeable about nature or the seasons than the average European peasant, as evidenced by the lack of any significant social progress allegedly over thousands of years of existence. Bottom line is, hunter gatherers wipe out the resources of one area before moving on to another. Whether they were European hunter gatherers or American hunter gatherers. That means polluted streams and rivers, slash and burn clearings for villages or to burn out their competitors, and wholesale slaughter of animals in the belief that the Great Spirit would provide new game each year, no animal husbandry needed. (Not to mention treating women and girls like slaves, always subject to being kidnapped and forced into sexual slavery to their kidnapper). But let’s worship ‘the old ways’ and Mother Earth lololol
