Do we ever believe the NYT?
Oh Lord. I hope Ted doesn’t stab Trump in the back after their bitter campaign rivalry in 2015.
I would hope it would be someone like Jay Sekulow.
President Trump asked Senator Ted Cruz on Tuesday night if he would be willing to argue a case filed by the Texas attorney general seeking to invalidate the election results in states like Pennsylvania in the event that it reaches the U.S. Supreme Court, according to a person familiar with the discussion.
Mr. Cruz agreed.
I have my problems with Cruz.
However, he is a very smart lawyer
and debater.
I believe he will give his best effort to Trump.
And he has some great skill sets.
Otherwise he will look like the 3 GA Surrender Monkeys
(Kemp, Raffensperger and Male Model)
And I’m certain he does not want that.
I bet Jenna Ellis and Jay Sekulow are angry.
Cruz is a racehorse....they should let him run.
Texas has a Solicitor General and I would be shocked if he did not speak for the State. Prez DJT in his personal capacity has submitted a request to join the lawsuit as an intervener. This essentially is as a coplaintiff instead of as an amici as the states that have signed on.
So, if the NYT is accurate then I think it is much more likely that Sen. Cruz would be speaking directly for the Prez and not the State of Texas. BTW, Ted Cruz is an excellent constitutional lawyer, former AG of Texas and has argued a number of cases to the Supreme Court, winning most.
As I understand, Cruz also worked on the Bush - Gore election case. He argued before Chief Justice William Rehnquist
Been There done that?
Ted is a patriot and he has a spine.
I sort of like Cruz but I dont trust him where Trump is concerned.
Alan Dershowitz says Cruz is the best debater he ever had in law school.
That is false, it just rejected the request for an injunction now. The suit could still achieve cert. We can pray a favorable decision in Texas's suit will render Kelly's moot and that SCOTUS planned it so.
Bump
Texas filed the suit so if it makes it to oral arguments then I believe that the Texas Solicitor General is the one who will argue it. And considering this is probably Trump’s last, best hope then I would suggest it be left in his hands and that of his staff rather than a politician.
Re: Trump Asks Sen. Cruz to Argue Texas Supreme Court Election Case
If true, that is a critical mistake.
Cruz has not prepared or argued a case since 2012.
He will get crushed in oral arguments, which is the only “case” the general public will hear about.
..class move by the President if true.
Cruz has his own interests, but this is an opportunity of a lifetime.
The Republic needs heroes right now...
