Trump Asks Sen. Cruz to Argue Texas Supreme Court Election Case

President Donald Trump has asked Texas Sen. Ted Cruz to argue the state’s Supreme Court case seeking to overturn the results of the election, reports The New York Times.

The state of Texas is suing four swing states that certified wins for Joe Biden.

Attorney General Ken Paxton in the suit filed earlier this week argued that a handful of battleground states destroyed the integrity of the 2020 election vote totals and insists the U.S. Constitution was violated by allowing their legislatures to make last-minute changes that ignored federal electoral regulations.

Cruz on Monday offered to present before the Supreme Court the merits of a lawsuit filed by Rep. Mike Kelly claiming Pennsylvania’s 2019 voting reform bill is unconstitutional.

The high court on Tuesday rejected Kelly’s lawsuit.

Yep. Make a list of the senators you’d save from a sinking ship, Cruz would be top of the list. Unfortunately, my list would be very short.

Cruz has flaws but he has been a steadfast ally to Trump.

Chuckle. Cruz and Cotton would be 1 - 2. After that not really sure of the order either LOL. Johnson and Paul I guess, but had to think about it.

I doubt if this is stated accurately by the referenced article or the NYT, which was the source for the article.

Texas has a Solicitor General and I would be shocked if he did not speak for the State. Prez DJT in his personal capacity has submitted a request to join the lawsuit as an intervener. This essentially is as a coplaintiff instead of as an amici as the states that have signed on.

So, if the NYT is accurate then I think it is much more likely that Sen. Cruz would be speaking directly for the Prez and not the State of Texas. BTW, Ted Cruz is an excellent constitutional lawyer, former AG of Texas and has argued a number of cases to the Supreme Court, winning most.

Supreme, maybe. But regarding POTUS, past scuttlebutt has maintained that Ted isn’t a Natural Born Citizen of the U.S. If that still cuts any ice.

The man knows law and has learned to trust the heart of one Donald J. Trump.

He will be fine.

It takes time used well.

Oh Lord. I hope Ted doesn’t stab Trump in the back after their bitter campaign rivalry in 2015.

Cruz has strong experience arguing cases to the Supreme Court, he's been one of Trump's biggest supporters in the Senate and Trump trusts him to do the job now. Cruz's addition can only strengthen the case.

As I understand, Cruz also worked on the Bush - Gore election case. He argued before Chief Justice William Rehnquist

Been There done that?

It doesn't with me. We watched Barack Obama preside for eight years. That ship has sailed - if conservatives are now going to disqualify one of their own because of it, conservatives need their collective head examined.

One of the articles trying to criticize this case said the Texas solicitor general was not a part of it, which they used to try to discredit it. Either way Cruz is on Trump’s list for potential Supreme Court nominees, that guy is clearly not. If Trump trusts Cruz, then good enough for me.
