YouTube said Wednesday it will start removing any content uploaded to its platform that contains allegations of widespread fraud or errors in the 2020 presidential election after Tuesday's so-called safe harbor deadline that essentially locked in President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.
The deadline marked the date by which all states are required to have resolved any election-related disputes. President Trump, however, has not conceded in the race, even as state officials have certified their election results showing Biden has the Electoral College votes to be the 46th president.
In a blog post, YouTube said content “that misleads people by alleging that widespread fraud or errors changed the outcome” of the presidential election will be removed. The update applies to content uploaded Wednesday or anytime after.
The move does not appear to involve the removal of any content fitting that description if it was uploaded before Wednesday, though YouTube said that Since September it has terminated more than 8,000 channels and “thousands of harmful and misleading election-related videos” for violating its existing policies.
YouTube said 77 percent of those removed videos were taken down before they had 100 views, meaning more than a quarter may have reached a wide audience before they were removed.
Democrats have increasingly criticized social media platforms over their handling of election misinformation.
The CEOs of Facebook and Twitter have frequently come under scrutiny from lawmakers this year, but YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki has not been summoned for Senate hearings like other social media executives. Google CEO Sundar Pichai has also appeared before a Senate panel, but he has largely not faced questions over YouTube, which is owned by Google.

I, for one, think this is awesome.
YouTube has made the classic mistake of calling attention to something they want people to ignore.
Now, even MORE people will be watching it.

I don’t think it is awesome. They are continuing to put their thumbs on the election “scale.”
The mainstream media is not reporting any information unless it is biased against Trump. So that has left the internet to fill the void (I am not including Talk Radio and free-speech broadcast networks.).
But now Google, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook are all doing what the Chinese government does...putting out propaganda or Censoring...and it seems they are getting worse and worse—first it was hate speech, now it is political speech and vaccine information as well as medical treatments for COVID.
“Ya don’t know what ya don’t know.” MORE People won’t be able to watch because YouTube is pulling down all content that frames the election as fraudulent starting today and going forward.
There was a poll about Biden voters who were not aware of the Hunter Biden Laptop scandal (maybe 37%? not sure), and I put the blame on Twitter and anyone else who like Twitter was deleting any reporting on the subject...Conservatives were aware, but the people who were not following politics that closely were not.
This deleting of information is troubling on many levels. I find it very upsetting because videos on YouTube have been able to reach people that otherwise might not become aware. Many “moderates” had been convinced Fox News was Trump news and would not watch it, but they did to to YouTube and might stumble on a conservative news video. I will ask a couple of my more moderate neighbors, but my guess is they have never heard of Parler or Rumble (like many here had not until very recently).
Drudge changed his focus as did Fox—what people saw they did not like—he did an about-face...However, YouTube just won’t allow any election information supporting Trump to be uploaded, and they will be going thru existing videos deleting them as they wish.
That said, more and more people have migrated from Twitter to Parler, and I suspect they will also be moving from YouTube to free-speech video sites. That is good news, but it likely will be more difficult for Trump to get his message out to general public.

I’m not a judge, or on a jury, yet.
I am a consumer, and until today, a content creator on Youtube. I just signed up for Rumble. I will migrate my material there starting tomorrow.
In the meantime... let’s think up all the ways we can hurt Youtube and Google.
Everyday.
Efficiently.
Starting with their income.
Treason is great, but it takes a long time.
Let’s start whittling down those revenues.
