Dublin City Council passes new gun storage law

Gun owners in Dublin will soon be required to store their firearms inside a locked container or keep it disabled with a trigger lock while inside their home after the City Council unanimously approved the new ordinance at its meeting last week.

California already has similar laws in effect for guns in households with children living there, or that require a gun owner to store their guns from a household member who is prohibited from having guns.

"What we're doing in this case is just expanding that definition beyond those two scenarios -- children in the home or criminal record -- and applying it to all households," City Manager Linda Smith during a presentation at the Dec. 1 meeting.

Added to the Dublin Municipal Code, the ordinance known as Chapter 5.89 to Title 5, states, "No person shall keep a firearm within any residence unless the firearm is stored in a locked container or disabled with a trigger lock."

Two exceptions were added: when the firearm is lawfully carried on an individual, or when it is under the control of a peace officer.

Is Europe also requiring everyone to lock up their knives since that seems to be a preferred choice of weapon after the EU promoted the Muslim invasion.

"No person shall keep a firearm within any residence unless the firearm is stored in a locked container or disabled with a trigger lock."

Then there is no point to own a firearm. More of the same from the Communist control freaks running CA.

So they are basically saying that firearms may not be used to protect people in their own homes. If a burglar or home invader is shot in Dublin, CA, the home’s resident is liable to arrest and prosecution.

Was hoping to do a home invasion. Many thanks for this law. I will feel much safer now when I kick down the home owners’ door, since they won’t have time to use their weapons. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha….idiots

Unconstitutional on its face.

That's not what I'm seeing or hearing from relatives still in California. I'm sure there are less desirable areas in California right now than there were a year ago, but much of the Bay Area has retained, if not increased, in property value. Good chance it is Chinese money that is buying up the residential property in the Bay Area.

Look at the rest of the law. A burglar or home invader is required to give a weeks notice before the intrusion. So, that gives the homeowner a week to consider alternatives. See, it all equals out.

I do not think the little woman is going to like that when I carry in bed.

Ah, but then again it might add a little spice.
