I wouldn’t respond. He’s not looking for a discussion. I would drop him from my life and not look back.

What he does need is some testosterone. Here’s a list you might suggest to him:

Yes they do.

Posting a note from a friend is pretty much as narcissistic as you get. Did they get permission to post this? I would be pissed if my “best man” posted a letter I wrote him.

Who care what his “friend” thinks or feels? Is his friend Trump? Or Biden? Or some other person with any meaningful position?

This is an example of the stuff we have to wade through every day.

FR is simply full of angry, frustrated people who are lashing out. It’s getting tedious.

They would have had to somehow foresee the rise of the permanent Political Class and the Fourth Branch of the Administrative State. Term limits might have forestalled these a few more years, but their rise was inevitable. We are controlled by an immense and permanent coterie of people who get their sustenance from ever-larger government. It matters not how long people stay in Congress.

To: Your Friend B,

Our nation was founded by the rarest assemblage of saints and sinners that ever formed a government. Whatever their regional differences might have been, a shared belief in their personal and absolute right to liberty overcame that which otherwise divided them. Even at the expense of a devastating civil war...

We are, and have been for two centuries, trying to live up to the inspired ideals the Founders set for us, ideals which they could not at times achieve. But these facts do not justify the Left's attempts to tear down the institutions and beliefs that made us great. Many today are underestimating the strength of the desire of their fellow citizens to retain their liberties in the face of attempts to sacrifice natural rights to the fantasy of making everyone equal.

Trump saw this and became president as a result. His personality and refusal to sugar coat the medicine he prescribed does not detract from his accomplishments. He has opposed the Left's buying votes with destructive social programs. As I think Mencken observed, when B takes money away from A to give to C, B is a thief.

It comes down to choosing between personal freedom and a hopeless attempt to unify a nation by taking more and more in taxes while legislating morality.

P.S. I’m glad we can be friends even though we don’t agree (maybe at all) on this. That is what is dying in this country.”

What’s “dying in this country” is our children on the streets in Democrat party sanctuary cities. Does your friend have kids? Is he willing to sacrifice them at the altar of open borders? Apparently, yes.

After removing his emotional arguments from the letter, there isn’t much left. Apparently he has no concern on policy. Policies change nations, not attitudes.

The fact he wrote you a letter stating this is also indirect virtue signaling, a subliminal way of changing your ‘wrong’ thinking. A true friend respects your opinion and acknowledges it.

In summary, the letter is bs and that isn’t your friend. Detach your emotional connection to this dumba$$, and reread the letter as if a stranger wrote it. You would see the very same ‘approach’ used by CNN etc by having on a ‘republican’ proving bi-partisan reporting. Same crap, all closeted authoritarian elitists posing as democrats or so called republicans. BTW - we have very few real Republicans nationwide, notice the silence during these trying times?

It may seem harsh, but I personally have cutoff contact with anyone not sharing my values. Even family. For the same reason I wouldn’t hang out with a serial killer. I realized that placating ill will helps no one.

If bad behavior has no social consequences..........why expect change?

make your friend actually cite on example of bad leadership....racism? homophobia? whatever...??
there are none....

Exactly. Obama says the most vile things about his political opponents and Democrats cheer him on.

I would reply back in the exact reverse wording he sent you. About how Obama divided the country by separating us into identity groups, the hateful accusations of racism and sexism of the Democrats (Pelosi, Schemer) toward both Bush and Trump. Remind him how over the last four years and Bushes eight years the Democrats fought against coming together. Recall that McCain primarily criticized Republicans very rarely Democrats.

I would conclude there is no coming together with someone who cheats to win. We know there was cheating because of all the affidavits which your news sources are ignoring.
These same news sources believed and pushed one affidavit against Trump to impeach him. The establishment cheated Bernie and are cheating Trump. You can’t understand why he is supporting the cheaters and liars.

I forgot to add that I would close with “I beg your pardon, but it is people like you, who just go along with what is popular in the culture, that is causing this country to be dying.

It would be good to see what you ultimately decide to send. God bless.

Your list has nothing about abortion. How about: You believe we must keep abortion legal to reduce the number of African American babies born and that belief is not racist.

"... but it gives me hope that we have not completely descended into nationalism."

It's one thing not to like Trump's personality or even his politics. It's quite another for this jerk to dislike his own country. He's not worth keeping on as any kind of a friend.

I had to dump my maid of honor after 50 years because of her TDS. Just wasn't worth the memories of parties and hell-raising all those years ago to have to listen to her mainfestly uninformed lefty screeds.

I disagree. The conditions were already there (yes, I am deviating from my pledge to never again discuss health matters on FR).

The ease with which such people are gaslighted is what is so shocking. It’s absolutely terrifying, particularly the ease with which China has found to derive influence for their money to promote their own interests. They have used our system - and the public’s abominable health - against us. Now I’m coalescing all the reports of Chinese influence against governors and legislators with increasing alarm (I also now believe that the Awan brothers were working for China; the pieces fit together).

Media bias became overt under Trump, having been vigorously denied prior. Their bias and influence are but a symptom.

The letter is also but a symptom of the greater problem, the election being a result of such influence.

I believe we truly are at a precipice, without regard to how things fall on Inauguration Day.
