Senate Hearing on FBI's Crossfire Hurricane Investigation
C-SPAN ^ | December 3, 2020 | Senator Ron Johnson

Posted on 12/04/2020 2:41:29 AM PST by Cboldt

Sorry for linking to video only. I caught this by serendipity. Things other than the election are still going on, and this hearing had a few interesting moments.

C-SPAN all-caps real-time "transcription" converted to all lowercase for readability.

C-SPAN description: The Senate Homeland Security Committee held a hearing on congressional oversight of the FBIs Crossfire Hurricane investigation into possible ties between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russian officials. The hearing also focused on perceived bias of media organizations and social media platforms against conservative viewpoints. Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) chaired the hearing that featured testimony from investigative journalists Sharyl Attkisson and Lee Smith as well as former FBI official Kevin Brock. After Ranking Member Gary Peters (D-MI) delivered his opening statement, no Democrats participated in the hearing.

Senator Johnson:

you just set me up for my next question. i appreciate that. and i appreciate you participating in these hearings. we didn't have a lot of senators, some democratic senators blingked on and off, and they're not particularly inquisitive.

i made this comment a number of times, this point, that when it comes to investigations of wrong doing. we do with backwards. how long it took for us to get this level. and we're a long way from fully understanding this because of the resistance, the obstruction. but i would argue that the order of investigation ought to start, again this is investigates within the political realm. wrong doing there. it should start with congressional investigations.

congress ought to have access to all of the investigation. i can't tell you how many times the excuse has been give ton me when we asked things even under subpoena. we have john durham, he doesn't want you to interfere with his investigation. the way that this should work is that because from my standpoint, it is so far more important to expose this, so that the public understands what happened, to provide that accountability of public awareness as a deternltsrent as opposed to a criminal prosecution. i think that congress needs to investigation all of the access to all of the information and then if we see the potential the cases referred to the justice didn't.

so we have done this backwards. here we are four years later and we're only now starts to uncover the extent of the corruption and the corruption is incredibly troubling. it should have troubled every member of congress, every u.s. senator, every member of this committee, but it doesn't. apparently corruption is partisan. if it is corruption on the side of your party, not worried about it. i'm worried about it regardless. so i want to ask you the question, really, how much should it hamper a criminal investigation if congress had the same information?

Above is an excerpt but not flagged as such, in case it runs over the 300 word limit. In this part of the hearing, senator Johnon has a great idea for piecring the abuse of investigatory secrecy to hide corruption and malfeasance.

As far as "how important" is this hearing, it's not important at all. That said, if you have time, want a break from election, the tenor of this is unlike any other hearing I've watched. Kevin Brock comes off as forthright about the FBI. He has no praise, and he worked there at a high level.

Too little, too late. As severe as the Russian hoax was, the emphasis should be now on election theft. These people are idiots.

Brock, of the FBI who is testifying, states: it was a hijacking of the FBI. So can we now expect Comey and the other higher ups to face criminal charges any time soon? Rhetorical question, as I know the answer is no.

During a "post" of a new thread, there is a "this is an excerpt" button or option. If that is toggled ON, then the FR software does a word count on the article part of the OP.

I've done excerpt posts and trigged this. The fix is to go back to the article part of the post and remove parts.

Abuse of power isn't a crime, per se. And very little in the way of leaking classified material is a crime. The government and press can lie to the public, not a crime.

It's up to the public to mete out justice to those who abuse their power and authority, because the government will not check abuses that it perpetrates against the people. "When the FBI does it, it isn't a crime" sort of thing, but that applies across the board.

That was one of the issues brought up. The FBI, Wray personally, has been stonewalling and protecting corruption. Johnson suggested a change in the law (Congress makes the laws) so that "ongoing investigation" does not trump the public's right to know. That's a fairly radical thought.

Tangentially brought up was rewriting law so that people who are deplatformed or stifled from legal speech can sue for money damages.

Note that legal speech can be false statements. The 1st amendment protects speech, period, not just true speech. The boundaries of speech are defamation, incitement (tough to do in writing), and disclosing information relating to cryptography, military capability or action plans, and identity of spies.

The only people they need to bring before the senate is Barr and Durham. All the evidence is already out there for everyone to see. Has been for years now.

What good does it do to bring people in that have already colluded with one another to hide and mislead?

You can’t push a rope. All the rats, media, and half of the GOP are fine with DOJ/FBI/CIA criminality directed at President Trump and his supporters.

Should The Pretender Biden take office, the US will have finally slipped from a republic to an oligarchy, an oligarchy that holds pointless elections.

Well, in actuality they could be charged with Malfeasance in office, but they won’t be. Remember, no one is above the law, at least in theory at any rate. 8>P
