Rochester, N.Y. - A holiday tradition at one of Rochester's breweries won't be taking place this year.
The Genesee Brewing Company says its Genesee Keg Tree will not be going up.
"With safety as our top priority, we made the decision to forgo the Genesee Keg Tree this season," Genesee Brand Director Inga Grote-Ebbs said in a statement. "While we will miss the big party and our favorite seasonal spectacle, we're excited to celebrate in a different way, by sharing two new seasonal beers for fans to enjoy at home."
The brewing company is promoting two new creations - Blood Orange Cranberry Cream Ale and Bourbon Barrel Aged Winter Warmer.

Covid becomes the perfect excuse for everything.
“Takeout the trash?”
“Can’t. Covid!”
“Clean the basement?”
“Did you forget about Covid?”
“The dog needs to be walked.”
“It’s after Covid curfew.”

A long time ago and far, far away when I used to drink I tried Genesse beer. Worst tasting swill I ever drank. Along with beers like Rhingold, Miller , Schlitz and Schaefer.
Schaefer beer was uniquely horrible in it's own distinctive way.
But they had the coolest jingle. I still know it by heart.

I did like Genny Cream Ale back in the 1970s but preferred Utica Club.

Apparently you didn’t go to the right college and learn to appreciate this fine swill. “Miller” shouldn’t be in your list. I liked the Genesse plain ale vs the cream.

Right? My late father loved Schaefer. Good Lord what swill that stuff was. I was a Bud man. I grew up in northeastern NJ. When I was young there were breweries of all the big beers in the Newark/West Orange area because at one time it had a large German population.
There was Budweiser, Schlitz, Pabst, Rhingold, Schaefer, Kruger. They're all gone now. The Schaefer jingle was cool though. "Schaefer is the one beer to have when you're having more than one...''

My little brother drank Schaefer and hid it in the crisper tray of the fridge cuz it was cold on the bottom, and he was cheap and was hiding the beer LOL

The trouble with Miller, to me anyway, was it tasted very watery. I became acquainted with Genesee Cream Ale because in the late ‘70s Bud went on strike so I tried the stuff. God, it was awful!
