Some years back there was a made-for-TV movie about a US military debacle somewhere in the Muslim world, something along the lines of “Blackhawk Down.” At the time of the incident, Brennan was the top CIA guy — “station chief”? — in one of those nations. In the movie, a young male aide rushes into his (Brennan’s) office to tell him the awful news and was momentarily taken aback at having interrupted him on his little prayer rug, salaaming.
