The media and other leftists are now spinning this headline as Trump falsely claiming that it’s up to him whether or not to leave.
But the false implication that leaving the WH after an EC defeat was a choice came from NOTHING Trump said.
It came from the reporter’s question.
And Trump’s response - “of course I will, but you know that” - basically refuted the reporter’s false implication that he had a choice.
So basically the correct headline should be:
Trump Refutes Reporter Who Implies He May Try To Stay In WH After An EC Defeat.
It does not work that way in congress. Constitution spells out exactly the procedure in congress to follow. And it is not up to the speaker of House to set up any different procedure.
