Sanford Health Systems CEO Kelby Krabbenhoft is stepping down after sending a controversial email about his recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.
Sanford Health’s Board of Trustees announced on Wednesday that the two have “mutually agreed to party ways.” Krabbenhoft had been serving as the company’s CEO since 1996.
Krabbenhoft told employees in an email last Wednesday that he believes he’s immune to COVID-19 “for at least seven months and perhaps years to come” adding that he isn’t a threat to transmit the virus, according to the Associated Press. He also said that wearing a mask was merely for show.
“For me to wear a mask defies the efficacy and purpose of a mask and sends an untruthful message that I am susceptible to infection or could transmit it,” according to the email obtained by AP last week. “I have no interest in using masks as a symbolic gesture. ... My team and I have a duty to express the truth and facts and reality and not feed the opposite.”
Krabbenhoft also contradicted his own medical director about the severity of the pandemic in an interview with CBS News. He told the news outlet that “it’s hard for me to say we are at a crisis,” while the company's medical director, Dr. Allison Suttle, said she would call the coronavirus pandemic a crisis
Based in Sioux Falls, S.D., Sanford Health has 46 hospitals and over 200 clinics in the Dakotas, Minnesota and Iowa, CBS notes. It is preparing to merge with Intermountain Healthcare of Utah.
North Dakota and South Dakota are both dealing with worsening coronavirus outbreaks in their states, CBS notes.
South Dakota is currently leading the U.S. with a daily COVID-19 positivity rate of around 12.2 percent and Gov. Kirsti Noem (R) has continued to refuse to issue a statewide mandatory mask order.
Meanwhile, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgman (R) issued a mandatory mask order earlier this month for indoor businesses and public settings, as well as outdoor settings where physical distancing isn’t possible. Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) has also issued a new mask mandate despite previously resisting.
The U.S. as a whole is gearing up for an increase in COVID-19 cases in the winter months as experts warn that the colder weather will force people to spend more time indoors, where the virus can more easily spread.
Sending out an email to everyone was not prudent. But what he wrote is spot on.
Since ANY face-covering is magically transformed into a level-3 biohazard, covid protecting mask simply by visual-virtue, they must be wrong.
They agreed to party ways. Dancing music and drinks, possibly karaoke.

This is a signal that even if 100% of the populace receives an effective COVID-19 vaccine the tyrants will mandate masks in perpetuity.

Exactly right. I cannot believe he put that in an email to all employees. To lose your executive position over THAT! Yikes.
It had to be the board of directors that pushed him out. Maybe they were looking for any reason to jettison him.
But getting fired for telling the uncomfortable truth is awful. “Cancel culture” is still roaring across the land.

The incidence of new infections and re-infections was almost at ZERO in late May? Really? And how were they able to test TEN MILLION people in two weeks back in May? Really #2?

All city residents aged six years or older were eligible and 9,899,828 (92.9%) participated. No new symptomatic cases and 300 asymptomatic cases (detection rate 0.303/10,000, 95% CI 0.270–0.339/10,000) were identified.
There were no positive tests amongst 1,174 close contacts of asymptomatic cases.
107 of 34,424 previously recovered COVID-19 patients tested positive again (re-positive rate 0.31%, 95% CI 0.423–0.574%).
The prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 infection in Wuhan was therefore very low five to eight weeks after the end of lockdown.
But even if the numbers were nowhere near this good, it still buttresses Krabbenhoft's statement.

Reports on covid should only center on the statistical death rate which is no worse than influenza A or B. The death rate is even lower when you do not include people with pre-existing conditions.
Enough of these daily case reports which are grossly inflated and about as reliable as Dominion voting machines.
STOP the fear tactics, mask “mandates” and business closures.

So get out of the house more, it’s that simple. The language pretends as if people don’t have winter outer clothing, and even if they do they don’t want to use to so as to NOT stay indoors more often. Maybe they assume everyone is just idiots.

One of my friends works there.
Due to COVID they have laid off lots of staff that handled the routine day to day intake, surgery prep, recovery and things associated with normal hospital operations.
No golden parachute for them. Typical non-profit.
Krabbenhoff’s mistake was to utter heresy. According to the COVID dogma the magic juju mask is the sovereign protection against the evil virus. With SouthDakota being declared by the media to be a pest colony there can be no deviation from the dogma. Strange that if having the virus according to the dogma confers no immunity then how does a vaccine work as it is based on using an attenuated virus to trigger antibodies to ward off a full viral infection?
