Though President Donald Trump is expected to leave office in January, not all of his political appointees will follow.
That’s due to a longtime, controversial practice called “burrowing” in which political appointees — whose jobs could easily be nixed by an incoming president — transition to more secure civil service positions, many times within the agencies they once helped lead.
A review by the News4 I-Team found more than a dozen Trump appointees have already “burrowed” into new positions this year alone, joining the rank and file who will serve under President-elect Joe Biden.
They include a high-ranking official at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, at least seven political appointees in the U.S. Department of Justice and four appointees in the U.S. Department of Interior, among others.
The process of “burrowing” is nothing new and has been used for decades by administrations in both political parties. Under current law, the Office of Personnel Management must examine and sign off on the conversions and is required to report those cases to Congress. If approved, the newly minted civil servants will enjoy stronger job protections than a political appointee.
Still, it’s widely viewed as controversial among political parties and government watchdogs alike. Some critics of the practice say it wrongly allows political operatives to remain inside agencies and question whether it deprives longtime civil servants of the opportunity to advance.

Seriously ... Biden does seem to be making a show (highly fake) of the olive branch -> sounds like word went out (Milano trying the same thing.) The fact that NBC is reporting it with a headline that reads like an opening statement in a persuasive essay -> you know it's a narrative the left is paying the media to promote, hence important to their broad scheming.
Could be part of the larger Biden lefty strategy, could be to reduce pressure from the right on the election fraud.
What part of “used for decades” suddenly makes it controversial other than Trump appointees are now taking advantage of it?
Isn’t this amazing, a practice that has been going on for many years and the media nor academia has ever mentioned it AFAIK.
They’re trying to bring back the uniparty days, where the Dems push corporatism and globalism, and the GOPe just makes bland essays about “pork barrel spending” while ignoring mass corruption and mass third world immigration. Don’t believe me? Well, Bush could have totally secured the border—and right after 9/11, he’d have popular support to do so. Everything that Trump has done could have been done decades ago under prior Republican leadership. They just chose not to.

No disagreements with you there.
All the Deep Swampers are safe as long as they can present a resumé of their backstabbing accomplishments while in Trump’s employ. The spineless go-along-to-get-alongs will have to go. There has to have been active provable sedition against Trump.
I saw a post on Hot Air the other day, which is pretty GOPe friendly but I read it still since they’re usually up to speed on recent news—anyways, yep, posting articles about “OMG the Dems are gonna do pork barrel spending!”
It’s like they’re trying to say “aren’t you entertained?! Don’t worry about voter fraud...Dems are spending!! Spending bad!!! G...guys...?”
Look I’m WAY more concerned right now about corruption in the FBI and their total failure to go after Antifa or voter fraud, than I’m concerned about a couple million here and there for a few pet projects. The latter isn’t good per se, but it’s a drop in the bucket. The former is a serious threat to our way of life.
This is why the whole concept of Term Limits is meaningless. BureaucRATS have more power than elected officials.
We know that from experience here in Commiefornia. The BureaucRATS draft legislation in cahoots with lobbyists and foreign governments and the politicians are told how to vote in order to get their cut.
Now, if you want to include BureaucRATS in your Term Limits, you might actually accomplish something beneficial for the American taxpayers.
I'm sure there are more than just a few FReepers who have spent their lifetimes sucking at the government teat who will want to weigh in. Commence flaming, teat suckers.
You weren't paying attention.
I think the incidence of burrowers will be much lower than with previous administrations.
THE BOILING FROG EFFECT
The Dims want to appease the masses with milk toast appointments early on and gradually replace them, and bring in their REAL Leftists appointments once the Regime is totally in place.

You’re spot on.
Then I realized that the teat suckers are sleeping in this Thanksgiving morning safe and secure that their taxpayer funded income is secure even though they haven't reported to work for 8 months or more.
The resentment is strong in this one.
Shut up.
No. You shut up.
Good! I hope every one of them will help to lead the “RESIST” movement for the next four years. Undermine Biden, from inside government, the way America’s enemies undermined Trump.
HUNDREDS of Obama appointees were made permanent civil service jobs when he left office.
