Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) pushed for the cancellation of student debt to help “ensure” an “equitable” economic recovery from the effects of the shutdowns amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Pressley told MSNBC that she will push the Joe Biden-Kamala Harris administration to cancel student debt via executive order on day one.
“I’m certainly not going to abdicate my responsibility to continue to fight for [a coronavirus relief package],” Pressley advised. “You know, this Democratic majority-led House has passed multiple bills to meet the scale and scope of this crisis to mitigate the hurt people are feeling, and this callous, and might I add clueless, GOP-led Senate has refused to act. And they have consistently failed the American people.”
“I can only tell you what I have continued to advocate for is everything from paid leave, which, you know, these should not be controversial,” she added. “The fact that people need to be able to stay home from work because they’re not feeling well or to take care of ill loved ones, again, canceling rent and mortgages, eviction and foreclosure moratoriums. I mean, I’m getting projections in my district of 60,000 to 100,000 who are vulnerable and on the precipice of eviction right now in the midst of a pandemic, which is surging out of control and, of course, unprecedented food insecurity. And so, first and foremost, we have got to get this pandemic under control, make the robust federal investments for a national testing strategy, the investments for contact tracing, and then once a vaccine is made available, ensure that it is equitably distributed. We are finally turning the page on this dark chapter in our history. ”

And while they are at it, they need to pay for everyones rent.
Her economic prowess is stunning...
I agree. if you live in work camps, you won’t have to worry about any stupid rent.
did she go to school to learn this? and for those who paid for their college.... no problem?
always trying to get something for nothing....these people make me sick.
And just does what the cancellation of student debt say to the many millions of students and parents who worked hard to finish school without debt??
WTF?
Of course! What could be more equitable than forcing (at gunpoint) those who work in the trades to dedicate a portion of their wages to subsidize degrees in “Women’s Studies” for clueless millenials working as Starbucks baristas?
And we should ELIMINATE the Congressional Retirement System to help PAY for it, OK?? Can’t they live on Social Security like the the peasants?
I paid off my daughters student loans... Will I get refund?
Another economic genis heard from.
So all those kids who graduated, could not afford to go to uni, took jobs or went into trades should pay for the terrible choices other kids made?
> And just does what the cancellation of student debt say to the many millions of students and parents who worked hard to finish school without debt??
Suckers.
Also people like me who actually paid off their student loans. The socialists are absolutely dependent on the majority of people being responsible for themselves and continuing to work and pay taxes.
District 9?
“And while they are at it, they need to pay for everyones rent.”
Heh. The utility where I am is giving forbearance to those who can’t pay their bills.
I can’t wait to see my bill this winter.
I committed to paying for both of my kids undergrad and did so out of my pocket without loans, with certain stipulations like carrying stellar grades and graduating on time, which both did. Now, can I take out parent plus loans to the tune of $150,000 so they can then be forgiven? I didn’t think so.
Exactly.
Thief. Common criminal. Looter.
