ATLANTA — Georgia's Republican secretary of state was forced to issue a correction Friday after he initially claimed that the Peach State had certified that Joe Biden won the state's presidential election, beating President Trump by more than 12,000 votes and securing 16 Electoral College votes.
An earlier announcement around 12.30 p.m. had said the state had completed its certification - but around an hour later, the office of Brad Raffensperger, the beleagured secretary of state, issued the correction. The snafu was just the latest embarrassing turn in what has been a chaotic electoral process in the traditional Republican state.
Earlier at the state Capitol, Raffensperger had declared: “Working as an engineer throughout my life, I live by the motto that numbers don’t lie.
“As secretary of state, I believe that the numbers that we have presented today are correct. The numbers reflect the verdict of the people, not a decision by the secretary of state’s office or of courts or of either campaign.”
Trump's campaign has until Tuesday to request a recount since the margin of victory was below 0.5 percentage points. If requested, the recount would be done using scanning machines that read and count votes and not another hand tally.
Taxpayers in Georgia would foot the bill.
Georgia's hand count completed Wednesday stemmed from a new state law and wasn't in response to problems with the state's results or a recount request.
The Trump campaign has repeatedly alleged widespread voter fraud in Georgia but has never shown proof.

A recount with zero signature verification, zero to little GOP representation, absentee ballots from dead people counted etc etc, is a fake recount.
It’s like eating shit a second time and expecting it to taste different.
I’d say that makes NeverTrump Gov. Kemp complicit in this steal.

I would say Trump won Georgia by a large margin!
Nobody would have ever noticed except for this election.
He is probably regretting running for the office.

Trump camp in Dane County also objecting to absentee ballots where clerks wrote voters’ address when it was missing.
Biden camp says the rule allowing such a practice has been around through 11 elections already with no previous objections, including 2016

The time for signature verification was when the mail-in ballots were first received.
This is turning into a circus. Our enemies must be laughing at the Great Satan.
I don’t care if it’s the “way it’s been done since time immemorial”, if it’s against the law as defined by the GA legislature, then they’ve been spoiling people’s ballots for years.
Article II is pretty clear that the legislature sets the rules for elections and no agreements, memos, directives from the SoS office or other things done to change the law are valid.
You’d think the people would be more incensed that the Biden camp has stated they’ve been essentially violating the law for 11 elections.
Ar the end of the day, we can rest assured that the electoral votes in not just Georgia, but Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Arizona and Michigan will go to President Trump.
Which means there were 11 crooked elections...
