Pfizer vaccine 95% effective in final analysis, plans to seek emergency authorization 'within days'

Pfizer and partner BioNTech announced their coronavirus vaccine is more than 95% effective in the final analysis of its massive Phase 3 trial on Wednesday, and has reached a key safety milestone that will allow the company to apply for Food and Drug Administration authorization “within days.”

If the FDA gives the vaccine the green light, Pfizer will likely make history as the first company with an FDA-authorized COVID-19 vaccine. It has plans to start delivering millions of doses of the potentially lifesaving vaccine to the most vulnerable overnight once the government gives a green light, possibly before the end of 2020, the company said.

This release may be warranted but I don't see how it can be successful. Any vaccine that has to be distributed and held at -70 degrees (YES, SEVENTY BELOW ZERO) sounds like an failure all along its line of delivery. <>P>Pfizer's vaccine will be used for mass inoculations in large commercial settings, Hospitals, Nursing Homes, etc. Moderna will be used for private applications from drugstores and the like.

Flu vaccine mutates yearly, this is a 1 YR VACCINE. Which like the Flu will have to be reformulated yearly. Still think it’s a BIOWEAPON.

I’m having the same problem understanding what that 95% refers to. If it’s 95% of the whole population, then it’s better to do nothing and get 98%.

If it’s 95% effective for the elderly with co-morbicities then it’s something to cheer.

In other words, if the 95% applies to the 2% percent that currently die, thus reducing that 2% to 0.1% then you got something.
