1 and maybe MORE tribal casino's staying OPEN!!! They are on FEDERAL land..so the state over reach is a bit much.
Indian casinos are on sovereign nation land of their tribe, not Federal land.
True that..So then they all can give governors the finger.
Maybe I can declare my property a reservation and have Thanksgiving.
I want to state again just how much I loathe Gretchen Whitmer and her political ruled.
Good!
NO..just declare it a funeral service for your late pet turkey, Tom.
The Oneida Nation here in central New York has at least 4 casinos now. They weren’t open during the initial shutdown, then re-opened with social distancing, mandatory masks, and travel restrictions. The last time I was there was in March, and I won’t go back until masks are not required. I was meeting an old co-worker and her husband there once a month. We’d eat at the buffet, and then play the penny slots for a few hours. I doubt there will ever be another buffet allowed in New York State, and there is no reason for me to go there, be allowed to sit together in a booth at one of their restaurants without masks, but then have to social distance on the gaming floor, and wear a mask the whole time I’m there. I save myself at least a $100 a month by not going. I’ll put that toward bills, or put it aside for my sons’ birthdays or Christmas.
I won’t go back until masks are not required
Same here--I like to smoke my little cigars when I gamble, so the casinos won't see me around for a while.
"be allowed to sit together in a booth at one of their restaurants without masks, but then have to social distance on the gaming floor, and wear a mask the whole time.."
the stupidity of it all
"Same here--I like to smoke my little cigars when I gamble, so the casinos won't see me around for a while."
Some of the Oneida Nation casinos don't allow smoking. At the biggest casino, Turning Stone, they have a separate glassed-in smoker's section. For a while, they stopped smoking in there as well, but since I haven't been going, I don't know if they've changed back to allowing smoking in that area. I never smoked, so never accessed it.
Yes in my county (Contra Costa, CA), there is a tribal casino in San Pablo and they do whatever they want there; however their resulting “cases” drive county data and therefore my kids’ schools remain closed.
So Tribal Americans can go to school, but not non-Tribal Americans.
indian casinos do not always require a mask...people milling about coughing, smoking, drinking....
and no one dare criticize them....no one...too much campaign cash to be had....
I do go to the casino...I wear two masks and wash my hands....its still a risk....
per my sister, who goes to Turning stone, I think the no smoking bit the dust a while ago....
like I've said, I go, I take extra precautions, but absolutely no public official or media have at least said..hey guys, our surge in sickness might be tracked to people going to the casino, no precautions....
Thanks for the info. My friends and I were meeting there once a month. I actually enjoyed the buffet more than playing the games. It was a chance to see my friends, and catch up on news. They’ve been back to Turning Stone a couple of times, and they’ve tried to entice me to meet them, but I won’t go back until all restrictions are lifted, and if that never happens, well, then I guess I’ll just keep saving money.
ILLINIOIS casino’s where NON smoking for a time about 9yrs ago..that went over like a lead ballon.
I’ve been going to casinos quite often...Las Vegas, Chumash in Solvang, Ca., and Tachi in Lemoore Ca. As long as you are drinking or smoking they don’t bother you about wearing a mask. I just pull mine down on my chin and when I’m done pull it back up.
