GOP 'within spitting distance' of taking control of House Which faction of Democrat Party 'deserves lion's share of the blame?'(nanzi pic)

Democratic joy at defeating Donald Trump was partially dulled by the simultaneous diminishment of the party’s House majority. As of Sunday at least 11 Democratic-held House seats have been lost to Republicans (while Democrats have flipped three others). That’s the biggest net loss in a presidential election year by the winning presidential candidate’s party in 60 years.

The unexpected divergence in the two results sparked a round of reciprocal recriminations between the House Democratic caucus’ moderate and left-wing factions. Moderates blamed the “defund the police” sloganeering and “socialist” branding from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her supporters, which Republicans deployed in swing district attack ads. Ocasio-Cortez shot back by claiming moderate incumbents ran musty campaigns with minimal investment in digital media.

Yet another statistical anomaly in the election of Biden.

Just what I was thinking.

Run down of all nine uncalled races:

NY01, NY02 - R incumbents have huge leads, but there are still a lot of mail ballots to count.
NY22 - not really that close, R insurgent ahead 57.2 to 46.6
CA21, CA39 - R insurgents have 1 point leads with “99 percent of votes counted”
IA02, CA25 - minuscule margin for R insurgent in first, R incumbent in second
LA05 - headed to a run-off, probably R on R, but if R on D, the R will still hold this seat
NJ07 - R insurgent down, now, by only 1 point, with more counting ahead

Possible Rs will take all nine, and the House wind up 220 to 215, or close to that

Possible Blue Dog-Republican coalition?

If the GOP numbers are close enough, the GOP can work with some Democrats and get their own agenda through.

Why is that funny? There are some moderate Democrats who want to keep their seats. We only need about 10 to get the majority. These are the ones who voted against Pelosi.

If the electoral map posted on another thread is remotely correct, the House is lost big time by the Dems: T 410 - B 128 (before the big switch).

“There are some moderate Democrats “

I haven’t seen them. When push comes to shove, they fall in line, or they’re gone next cycle.

There are some who are upset with Pelosi’s radical agenda and know that their own political future is in danger. That is why the GOP leader of the House is saying that if 10 Democrats vote against her, she won’t be Speaker. The GOP is close enough to pick off some of the more rational Democrats. They weren’t before.

“The GOP is close enough to pick off some of the more rational Democrats. They weren’t before.”

Rational Democrat? Isn’t that an oxymoron?

Anyway, here’s hoping that happens. It is the one and only thing that the GOP is good at that helps, obstructionism.
