“Release the Kraken” is a reference to the Clash of the Titan movies (1981 and 2010). In the movie, Zeus orders Poseidon to release the last of the Titans, a gigantic sea monster called the Kraken, in order to destroy the city of Joppa.

Thanks for clearing that up for me! I had a hunch it was something like that, and now I know what exactly the “kraken” is.

That’s what it is. But what does she mean? Probably unleashing all the evidence, filing fanning suits, etc

The film actually refers to an old Scandinavian legend about a monstrous sea creature.

It’s thought that it may have originated from sailors witnessing giant squid.
