This week, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the drafting of a new piece of legislation that would expand the states Stand Your Ground law. He is calling the legislation an anti-mob bill and it seems specifically targeted at the Black lives Matter movement and the ongoing protests against police brutality that have swept across the United States in recent months.
The new legislation, if it becomes law, would allow armed citizens in the state of Florida to shoot, and potentially kill anyone that they suspect of looting a home or business.
According to the Miami Herald, the legislation is an attempt to prevent violent and disorderly assemblies by allowing civilians to use violence against anyone involved in the interruption or impairment of a business. The law specified that any burglary within 500 feet of violent or disorderly assembly, could be legally answered with lethal force.
The proposed legislation has been criticized by legal experts in the state, who fear that it could give vigilantes a license to kill anyone who they deem to be a rioter, and could further increase the change of civil unrest.

It also allows for death to be the punishment for a property crime and that is cruel and unusual punishment. We cannot live in a lawless society where taking a life is done so casually and recklessly.

The mobs will have to be real careful about the mayhem they spread. Could get shot.
“...Increase the change of civil unrest”? I know that’s a typo, but you’re damn right it will change civil unrest. Lots less vertical rioters, lots more horizontal ones.
I asked a police officer what to do if a mob surrounds my car. He said drive slow and if they start damaging the car step on it.
The lives of blacks, matter.
On the other hand, “Black Lives Matter” is ripe for a splatter.
Do you have to tag em
Our entire family and all of our friends voted for this man for Governor. We thank God we did. There are only two Republican governors worth their salt in my opinion. The Governors of Florida and North Dakota. The rest are mediocre at best or RINO’s/Dem Light in many cases.
NICE!!!
This law works for me!!
Too bad it cant be extended to cover the celebrities and media figures who incite the looting.
DeSantis thinking of running for POTUS in 2024?
“North Dakota”?
South Dakota...
You mean South Dakota?
If a liberal lynch mob shows up at your home, it IS a threat to your literal safety.
Where’s the meme of the antifa on the truck hood?
Yeah, she’s a Southern Belle...
Its a good start.
But also pass a law that makes city governments responsible for damages to private property due to looting and riots. Such laws used to be very common - until Democrats took over control of most large cities.
We can keep driving if violent thugs surround our cars too...
LOL...make the rioting mobs worried about getting killed. What a novel idea.
And the notion that that would “increase the chance of civil unrest” is a howler. It would augment strained, shackled, and defunded PDs and put the unrest down posthaste.
As Taranto used to say, “What would we do without ‘legal experts’?”
