A defamation lawsuit brought against CNN by President Donald Trumps campaign will not move forward, a federal judge in Georgia ruled Thursday, part of a raft of libel accusations the campaign waged against media outlets over the last year.
Trumps campaign filed the lawsuit in federal court in March, seeking damages for a 2019 opinion piece on CNNs website that it called false and libelous.
Judge Michael Brown dismissed the legal challenge on Thursday, arguing the campaign could not demonstrate that CNN published any inaccurate information intentionally or with reckless disregard for the truth, a high standard known as actual malice that is required for defamation cases waged by public figures in the United States.

Judge is a Trump nominee.
From wikipedia:
“On January 11, 2018, his nomination was confirmed by the United States Senate by a vote of 920.”
Any judge that gets support from the Socialists is suspect.
Then sue in a different jurisdiction.
Do what the rats do and go judge shopping
Well that was a cheap lesson...
Probably a swamp thing...
I suspected, with so many Trump appointments, we’re bound to have a couple who are just awful good at making their swamp roots.
Hopefully this is a one-off, and he doesn’t turn into Jeb McCain Roberts!
About impossible to show CNN has a “disregard for the truth”, much less that it was “reckless”.
CNN hasn’t ANY relation to the truth. None.
Yep. Once again the Dems’ vetting job was on target for them.
Just another one exposed . . . . .this country is full of evil. The demons are in a frenzy. . . they know their days are numbered . . .they know even more than church goers who have not bothered to check out what the Bible says about end times. Everything has been fulfilled before God’s giving Jesus the high sign to come for His church (Rapture). No one should want to be left behind . . .no date or hour being set by me but we are to watch for the signs. https://www.patburt.com/
Appeal the dismissal until this gets to the SC and we can test New York Times Co. v. Sullivan.
Sounds like the judge is a tosser
Yes, I only trust judges that were confirmed by a 53-47 vote or even better, a 52-48 vote like ACB.

a public official suing for defamation must prove that the statement in question was made with actual malice. In his concurring opinion, Justice Black explained, "'Malice,' even as defined by the Court, is an elusive, abstract concept, hard to prove and hard to disprove. The requirement that malice be proved provides at best an evanescent protection for the right critically to discuss public affairs and certainly does not measure up to the sturdy safeguard embodied in the First Amendment."
No, he is following NY Times v Sullivan.
This is Michael Brown the judge:
It’s damn near impossible to win a libel case because the standard in the law is virtually impossible to meet. The law is terrible, and this does not imply the judge is.
Did James Comey really believe the story about the Russian Pee Pee video or was he just trying to tarnish the new President after his cheap tawdry attempt at blackmail fell flat?
I’m getting a little suspicious of Forbes, Steve Forbes (former presidential candidate) as being a “Never Trumper.” And now I’m wondering about the author of this article Joe Walsh. Wasn’t he the Joe Walsh that tried to be a conservative radio talk show host, but failed miserably?
