Like many big law firms, Jones Day, whose roots go back to Cleveland in the late 1800s, has prided itself on representing controversial clients
There was Big Tobacco. There was the bin Laden family. There was even the hated owner of the Cleveland Browns football team as he moved the franchise to Baltimore.
Now Jones Day is the most prominent firm representing President Donald Trump and the Republican Party as they prepare to wage a legal war challenging the results of the election. The work is intensifying concerns inside the firm about the propriety and wisdom of working for Trump, according to lawyers at the firm.
Doing business with Trump - with his history of inflammatory rhetoric, meritless lawsuits and refusal to pay what he owes - has long induced heartburn among lawyers, contractors, suppliers and lenders. But the concerns are taking on new urgency as the president seeks to raise doubts about the election results.
Some senior lawyers at Jones Day, one of the countrys largest law firms, are worried that it is advancing arguments that lack evidence and may be helping Trump and his allies undermine the integrity of American elections, according to interviews with nine partners and associates, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect their jobs.
At another large firm, Porter Wright Morris & Arthur, based in Columbus, Ohio, lawyers have held internal meetings to voice similar concerns about their firms election-related work for Trump and the Republican Party, according to people at the firm. At least one lawyer quit in protest.

So it took three people at this branch of INGSOC media to make this one up, eh?
Not a single lawyer from any of those law firms was willing to give a quote, on or off the record. So what you have here is a fact-free speculation piece.
NYT? Is it real or is it fantasy?
Are the law firms getting paid? If so, then they are comforted.
Careful reading of the article leads one to believe the complaints are from democrat lawyers within both firms. Which means they are not loyal to their profession and the rule of law. And in fact, may be damaging to the cases and should be either either fired, removed from the case, or asked to work from home due to Covid. Yeah, I’d use that Covid claim to get them out of the offices as Cleveland is currently at health crisis level 4. These people are potential leakers and need to be shutdown.
Poppycock
Articles like this are meant as warnings.
Not news.
This Fake News is in reality a warning to any lawyer who touches this case. The communists intend to rule as communists.
These lawyers need to find somebody who is in the business of uncovering evidence. I hear that sort of skill can help in legal matters.
GMTA. Three authors is a sure sign of BS.
NYT is making claims without evidence in attempt to attack and intimidate lawyers representing Trump. That’s the take away, I think.
“...complaints are from democrat lawyers within both firms...”
Absolutely. They hate Trump as much as any Democrat.
That profession has been shown to be mostly Democrats, too. Democrats like big gov, twisting the truth and filing lots of lawsuits.
And even on the law firm, they are digging back to the 1800's, blowing right past prohibition and the 2 world wars.
Gee, “with no evidence” NYT makes that claim. Hmm...I see...
Huh? I thought liars, er, lawyers believed that EVERYONE deserves effective representation in court.
Yet another subtle threat from the democrat media.
JoMa
The “growing discomfort” is obviously in the editor’s office of the NYT....
Consider the source.
The New York Times via SF Gate!!
This is B-— S-—!
Discomfort for who? You, NY Slimes?
Well, boo freaking hoo.
