OAKLAND — The man shot by Oakland police Tuesday evening during a chaotic confrontation with suspected armed robbers died at the scene, authorities said late Wednesday. He was a 20-year-old Oakland resident. Police did not release his name.

The shooting happened at around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday when officers interrupted an attempted burglary and robbery of a cannabis grow inside a building in the 1400 block of 92nd Avenue, at Holly Street.

The burglary was one of several officers responded to Tuesday evening, as a group police described as a “caravan of armed robbers” robbed or attempted to rob several marijuana businesses, and broke into other cannabis stores and businesses throughout Oakland. About an hour after the police shooting, armed men shot two security guards at about 11:11 p.m. outside a cannabis business in the 8400 block of Baldwin Street, near 85th Avenue.

Between 9:15 p.m. Tuesday and 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to at least 10 calls of break-ins, robberies and shootings, with robbers mostly targeting marijuana businesses in East Oakland.

At the Baldwin Street attempted robbery and shooting, callers reported seeing 50 vehicles and hearing more than 20 gunshots. The two guards wounded are expected to survive.

Witnesses near a cannabis cultivation business in the 200 block of Hegenberger Road told police there were more than 100 people there at about 9:33 p.m. Other witnesses estimated the group to be 50 people, according to police.

California officials will mobilize a police task force to protect marijuana growers. Pro Trump demonstrators get no such police protection.

Life Insurance rates for Pot Farm Operators?
That’s a high risk profession, so it’s going to be kind of expensive. Gotta pay to play.

at least 10 calls of break-ins, robberies and shootings

See? When they legalize it there's less crime and less violence.

Radicals looking for revenue, perhaps? Seems somewhat organized.

I wonder what kind of vehicles they were and if they were known to engage in side shows.

In the SF Bay Area, side shows are a major nuisance. Dozens of cars will gather and the people indiscriminately shoot guns, set off fireworks and hit bystanders as they drive recklessy and block roads and intersections so all of the police agencies in our area work together to try and shut them down.

It wouldn’t surprise me if they also pulled heists along the way. Automotive hobbies can be expensive.

You do NOT screw with that tax money. The NY guy who was put down for selling loose cigarettes, for example.

The headline is a great example of bias. The story is dozens of armed robbers targeted pot clubs and growers, shooting security guards and endangering innocent civilians across a large section of Oakland, ultimately resulting in one man’s death.

Close.

They don't care about the ethnicity of the deceased because they are being led to believe that Harris/Biden won...so it's all good.

Who is the mayor of Oakland (and in the past)? Commies like Dellums, Quan, possibly Waters, etc.

Who is the congressional representative of this Democratic shithole? Maxine Waters, I believe.

Who is the Ca. Senators who represent Oakland and the state?
Cameltoe Harris and some other leftist.

See a trend here?

I just left the East Bay in September after 16 years. Oakland is a cesspool of Liberals and failure. The Mayor is Libby Schaaf and the rep is Barbara Lee. Commies, drugs, gangs of all stripes, homeless. With tons of new apartment buildings that are nearly empty.

To open a pot businsss the city makes you have a minority felon as an owner (not a joke) to move up the line for a permit.

Broke, dirty and 90% voted for Biden, I bet.
