New York Times deletes tweet after claiming 'role of declaring the winner' falls on the media (trolling or truth said accidentally?)

The New York Times was forced to correct a tweet on Tuesday after the paper initially claimed that “the role of declaring the winner” in the presidential election "falls to the news media."

“The role of declaring the winner of a presidential election in the U.S. falls to the news media. The broadcast networks and cable news outlets have vowed to be prudent. He’s how it will work,” The Times’ verified account tweeted to accompany a link to an article about how the media will report election results.

Political satirist Tim Young mocked the “newspaper of record,” which President Trump has labeled “failing” over the past four years for what he considers unfair coverage.

“The media who hates Trump and has shown their bias thinks they're the ones who should declare the President? It must be nice to think you're more important than reporting the news,” Young told Fox News. “Now they're trying to determine elections.”

The Times eventually deleted the tweet and issued a correction.

“Correction: We've deleted an earlier tweet that referred imprecisely to the role of the news media in the U.S. presidential election. The news media projects winners and reports results; it does not declare the winner of the election,” The Times wrote Tuesday.

I feel the Times did this on purpose to troll Normal people.

I'm waiting for Twitter to lock their account for spreading misinformation...

But this is an important point....HT LS:

On Dec. 14 the elector slates must be transmitted to the US Senate and Archivist. Thus they must be certified at some point before that.

There are no stated penalties for not transmitting, except for the state’s Secretary of State (a minor fine). While in most cases the Secretary of State “certifies” the count, a STATE LEGISLATURE may transmit the electors names regardless. There is nothing in the Constitution or the statutory law about how and when electors must be certified before that transmission date. If there is, I missed it.

It is the legislature’s job, and only the legislature’s, to transmit the elector slate. The governors play no role, except that the Secretary of State is under their executive branch.

Here is the makeup of each legislature - gray is a split

In the minds of counterculture drama homos, everything is a “role.” But if they keep it up, they’ll find that life is not a play.

If you can, please correct the headline and put “truth” in quotes. Thank you.
