California voters are saying no to bringing affirmative action to public schools and government work. In early tabulations, Proposition 16 is behind by 51.5% to 48.5%.

Proposition 16 asks California voters to bring affirmative action back to public schools and government work. The initiative would strike Proposition 209 from the California constitution.

KEYWORDS:
Assemblywoman Shirley Weber, D-San Diego, is the sponsor of Proposition 16.

“I went to grad school because I was a Black student. It was a gap program at UC Los Angeles, and I had one Black professor who nominated me for a Woodrow Wilson fellow,” Weber said.

So some poor white, Asian or Hispanic kid got kicked aside so you could get your underserving @ss into grad school. It's funny that Shirley is bragging about being a Woodrow Wilson fellow. He did not much care for the black folk at the time. Shirley is also the sponsor of the bill providing for reparations for slaves in the never slave state of California

The SCOTUS would slap it down anyway.

I wasn’t aware that AA had ever really left CA.

Just lol. Imagine being proud that you were admitted not because your hard work in your earlier studies made you more qualified than the other applicants, but because your skin color meant you skipped the queue.

Agreed. Affirmative action is just another form of government-sponsored racism. It does not, and never will, comport with constitutional equal protection. Pure and Simple.

They’ll still twist themselves into knots to keep AA in California - “holistic” admission to colleges and universities, giving more weight to the woe-is-me essay admissions and just plain carrying on with AA.

God point. We abolished it by referendum before. Our rulers do what they want anyway. This was just the request to allow them to jam down the accelerator

Affirmative action is systemic racism.

Doesn’t matter what the voters in Cali want ... if the government wants it, they do it anyway.

Amen! How many Asian and so called white students in California with excellent grade points in tough private high schools were turned down by California Colleges/Universities because they made maybe 1 b and the rest A’s versus the woe-is-me essay admissions.

Then, when those same turned down students applied to out of state schools.

They were not only accepted. Many got excellent scholarships versus giving more weight to the woe-is-me essay admissions.

Yet another Dope from Hope [AR]. Must be something in the water.

I’m guessing that both her BA/MA is in Communications, as is her PhD.

Interesting. California and Illinois appear to have voted similarly last night:

- RAT presidential candidate wins the state overall easily, there appears to be no shift towards Trump despite him being the incumbent now and so many people who voted third party, wrote-in a candidate, or left the ballot blank in 2016 changing their votes this time around.

- The large suburban region that USED to be the epicenter of GOP strength in the state, even when the state had become reliably Dem in the 90s and 2000s, went over completely to the dark side very recently, and sadly appears to continue to be overrun with RATS now (Orange county in California, DuPage county in Illinois, where I believe creepy Uncle Joe took 58%. This would have been unthinkable as recently as the George W. Bush era, and it was a shock when Obama got more votes in DuPage than Bush got)

- Nevertheless, there appears to be a pleasent surprise that RAT social engineering schemes are going down to DEFEAT in those states. The citizens aren't buying that stuff no matter how the RAT politicians try to rig the ballot question with flowery-sounding language (calling their Affirmative Action mandate in CA a proposal to "strengthen diversity' and calling their tax hike scheme in IL a "fair tax"). Voters in both states rejected the RATS campaign for Affirmative Action quotas and to tax "the rich", despite all the momentum and fawning media coverage looking like the Dems would easily con voters into rubber stamping those on election day.

When I went to bed last night, it had Jim Oberweis slightly ahead in the formerly "safe Republican" 14th district (now held by RAT Lauren Underwood), while it had Jeanie Ives slightly BEHIND in the formerly "safe Republican" 6th district (now held by RAT Sean Casten). Odd, I would have assumed the opposite would happen. Ives is much more "likeable" with voters than Obie.

The 14th is a more Republican district. And Underwood? Seems like someone white males would be motivated to get rid of. Cough cough.
