Dig the fence...it's a REAL fence and woodlands beyond it. They don't do it like that anymore.
I’ve always felt a connection to that game. My parents are both from Pittsburgh and were both baseball fans. I was 1 year old and Dad was in the USMC stationed at Kaneohe Marine Air Station on the island of Oahu. The family lived there for 3 years - encompassing the time of Hawaiian statehood (I was born in the Territory of Hawaii).
They didn’t find out who won the game until the next day.
Years later, growing up in Pittsburgh, I was a big Bill Mazeroski fan, and heard the story from my parents about how it took such a long time for news to reach Hawaii about the game, and even longer for a video reel to reach the island to be broadcast.
