Police said participants in Saturday’s rally were arrested and pepper-sprayed because they were blocking the roadway without authorization.
Graham Police said Saturday they issued several warnings to the crowd at Alamance County’s courthouse to move from the roadway before releasing pepper spraying and later arresting eight people.
A press release from the department said the march organized by Drumwright didn’t have permission to block traffic. Drumwright initially asked police and the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office if authorities could block the roadway for the rally members, but that request was never completed because Drumwright “missed the deadline,” Graham Police said.
Police said attendees paused in the roadway for about nine minutes, creating traffic back ups “in all directions around court square.”
After the time passed, police said they released the spray toward the ground not “directly” toward any participant.

I personally know the Sheriff of Alamance County... Terry Johnson. I’m not unique in this. A LOT of people know him. However, he’s one of TWO Sheriff’s who were sued by the Obama administration over enforcement of immigration laws (the other was Arpaio in AZ). Both won their suits. Terry has had Deputies posted at the Civil War Memorial since threats were made to deface/damage it. He’s warned the citizenry at large that damage to it won’t be tolerated and that disorder or lawlessness related to BLM/ANTIFA won’t be given a terrible lot of sympathy. Alamance County NC is probably a “bad” place for BLM/ANTIFA to operate. If a certain subset of locals were to believe that the local LEAs had lost control of the situation, there would be a “turkey shoot” as a result. There are a lot of armed and nervous patriots in the county.

Blocking traffic is not a peaceful act. It puts people at risk. It is a crime in most jurisdictions. They should all have been arrested, jailed and fined (after the warning, after the pepper spray, after the Tasers, after the batons).

Yes. And signed/witnessed. If there are mistakes the local election board can reject the ballot but it can be fixed.
In Seattle where the two women were hit, there were miscreants (including the women) who were blocking interstate traffic. At time of the incident the interstate had been blocked for around 45 days. Where were the police?

Blocking roads and highways should never be allowed, and the first person to stand in the street should be arrested. Why don’t they stop this crap before it starts? I do not understand how this got to be acceptable.
