An unidentified assailant riding a pedicab ambushed two police officers in New Orleans, opening fire into their police vehicle on Friday night. The shooter hit one cop in the face and the shards of glass from the bullet wounded the other officer.
Police Superintendent Shaun Ferugson announced that the assailant opened fire at around 4:30 p.m. in the city’s French Quarter. The suspect hit one officer in the cheek and the bullet lodged in his skull, Fox News reported.
“They were just crossing through intersections going in different directions,” Ferguson said. “This is a dark day for our officers.”
The officer who got shot was in serious but stable condition, the superintendent reported. “He was able to walk into the hospital holding his cheek,” Ferguson said. The wounded officer has served with the department for four years.
The other officer, a 16-year veteran of the force, suffered minor abrasions on his arm from shards of glass.
Ferguson would not identify details about the officers or the suspect, but he did thank a retired Army veteran who helped treat the wounded officer before paramedics took the officers to a hospital.

It’s the French Quarter. Nine people got shot two blocks over from my hotel when I was vacationing there with my wife a few years back.
New Orleans reeks of an evil vibe.
May God watch over and protect all law enforcement officers who now are under even more danger.
Assailants are enabled by society’s Dem voters and the leaders like Kamala and many more who snidely insult them and want to defund or bisband them, after taunting them, protesting aainst them and throwing objects at them or having mentally unstable types shoot officers.

Now it is nothing but a tourism and convention city with the French Quarter. But she is choking out the convention business and the restaurants/bars that depend on it. Take out the monuments and all that will be left is tee shirt shops and daquiri shops. The City is broke, getting broker, and self defunds the police.

As of this morning, not a single tv or newspaper account has identified the race of the shooter. All they’re saying is his name & age.
The shooter is from Georgia, staying at a FQ hotel. The cops were patrolling in their SUV. Shooter was riding in a pedal car, when it got even with the cop car he pulled out a gun & fired several shots point blank.
Locals & tourists helped as they directed other cops to where the shooter ran. He was caught 6 blocks away & they got the gun also.

Well, that's a new variant of FQ violence. It's usually home-grown.
Yes. I assumed that first when the news broke. A wanna be “gangster” kills a cop to join the local gang. I haven’t checked yet to see if they’ve noted race but we all know. If this was a white or Hispanic he’d been I’D immediately. Just the facts.
I will say this the NOPD will make his life a living hell; and that of his family. Never ending “investigations”.
