Longtime presidential ally and GOP operative Roger Stone will campaign with Rep. Doug Collins in Georgia on Monday in an effort to boost the Republican's Senate bid.
Collinss appearance with the right-wing provocateur and Trump ally on the eve of Election Day comes as he looks to shore up conservative support in the Peach State.
The GOP lawmaker is locked in a tight race against incumbent Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R) as well as Democrat Rafael Warnock for a chance to finish Sen. Johnny Isaksons (R) term.
The jungle contest allows multiple candidates to face off regardless of party, and if no candidate breaks 50 percent in the special election, the top two vote-getters will head to a runoff in January.
Warnock is currently leading in polls, benefitting from the GOP infighting. Collins and Loeffler are fighting tooth and nail to prove their conservative bona fides and earn a spot in a likely runoff.
Stone rose to rock-star status among many Trump supporters after he fought against serving a three-year prison sentence for his conviction of lying to Congress and witness tampering during the Houses Russia investigation.
Trump commuted the sentence in July.
Stone in a video announcing the campaign stop Monday praised Collins as a solid conservative who will stand up to the deep state. The Georgia Republican has similarly railed against investigations into ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.
We must defeat the very same establishment forces that tried to stop President Donald Trumps election and then tried to ruin it. We need men like Doug Collins, Stone said. Lets make America great again by putting Doug Collins in the U.S. Senate and Donald Trump back in the White House.
Please consider supporting Doug Collins for U.S. Senate!
I had forgotten that Roger Stone has already gotten his sentence “commuted” in July. Some things move fast in TrumpWorld. I guess commuted means he does not have to serve that sentence.
Collins is fighting a huge money disadvantage. They are running Kelly adds here non stop for So Ga. This battle is going to F up the purdue race IMO.
Loeffler, in her ads, has affixed herself to Trump and claims to have a voting record in 100% agreement with Trump. I like both candidates and wish they weren’t competing for the same job. I’m not a Georgian but listen to Rush’s show through a Georgia affiliate (WGAU).
She is worth hundreds of millions so not surprising.
Doug is doing well. He is ahead in some surveys.
McConnell pushed the Georgia governor to appoint Loeffler instead of Collins to fill this seat temporarily because she has the money to self-finance TWO campaigns in three years.
Loeffler got the nod in an attempt to appeal to the suburban white women (Karens and Soccer Moms). I am not sure that it worked, she Loeffler is outcampaigning Collins.
I went to a Loeffler several months ago and she talked a good talk but lacked substance. I was amazed at how tall and skinny she was. I never got the impression that she was trustworthy.
Loeffler was appointed because she and her husband gave millions to the Senatorial Campaign Committee.
Collins is currently running 3 pts ahead of Loeffler and she has outspent him 52 to 1. If you have not voted yet be sure to vote for Doug.
Wish I could but I live just over the line in florida.
