There are a number of problems with the polling industry, but the biggest problem they are dealing with is response rate. Prior to 2000, polling was done primarily through random dial landline calling and they would get a response rate of 50%. That means half the people they contacted would answer their questions.
The response rate today is 2%. 98 out of every 100 attempts to reach a voter is rejected. Of those that do respond, there is a very high sampling bias toward young, female, white Democrats. One of the pollsters I admire right now is Rich Baris, and he said, the very first Republican I get to respond to every poll sounds like a Bill Kristol clone.
Getting a representative sample of the electorate is HARD.
I dont know I answer the poll questions. I answer that I am eager to get out and vote for Hillary. Oh wait Biden. OK I just answer that it is the Dem who I am voting for.
Hahaha. It is amazing how many ads for Biden and other dems I get. Keep sending them so I can do my part to waste their election money on me.
Thanks for posting.
2/100 instead of 50/100. Which means getting in touch with someone who likely wants to vent. Kid of like reviews of products and services these days. Most happy people don’t leave a review.
*Kind of like
It’s worth recalling that a lot of the polls were wildly off in 2018, too. In Florida and Ohio, for example.
It's a market for a narrative, not a reflection of reality.
The cost of goods sold is reputation, so they tighten it up at the end and make sure they are close to each other.
Or not, but that's my read.
If anyone calls to poll me. I will answerTralfalgar or Rasmussen but anyone else can go F themselves
Prior to 2000 if you called a landline number it was probably busy, logged into AOL.
Rasmussen has Biden winning the election.
Yep those were the days AOL and Netscape LOL, LOL
Polling is utterly futile and worthless in an age of cancel culture where you can be banished by the social media thought police.
If it’s People’s Pundit, try to answer that one. That’s Rich Baris. He’s trying to get rustbelt swing state republican men to answer honestly.
I tell them I too scared to vote due to covid. They wanted fear well that’s what you get. Oh ok want to vote for Biden but with covid I can’t leave my house. Haven’t you been watching the news, so many people are catching it. They’re getting desperate. They created the situation and only they can fix it.
Add to that the dems that say they are Republican just to skew the poll. I always check the percentage of R’s voting for R’s.
I am not in the rust belt
Wrong. Rasmussen is a National poll and is meant to measure the popular vote.
I assume you know the popular vote does not determine the winner....right?
Does anyone answer unknown callers on a cell phone? I certainly dont. How many people actually still have land lines? I dont. When pollsters are adding the special sauce, over polling dems, how many Republicans do they hang up on looking for that +15% democrats? With their credibility issues, do they actually poll or just make their crap up?
Next election cycle I intend to send one dollar to the demonrat party and get onto their mailing/vote solicitation list.
My goal is to have them send me a hundred fliers in the mail. Their production/mailings cost, I'm guessing, approaches 75 cents per mail piece.
That would be $75 they can't spend enticing and deceiving vulnerable Karens.
