Coronavirus infections in Orange County were found to be seven times higher than previously thought, according to the results of a UC Irvine study released Wednesday.
County officials hired UCI to do a serological study of a large cross-section of residents to check antibodies for COVID-19 to get a better handle on how prevalent the highly infectious disease has been in the community, according to Orange County CEO Frank Kim.
Positivity rates are determined from polymerase chain reaction, or PCR, tests, which involve a health professional using a swab of the nasal cavity and are considered the most trustworthy when determining if a patient is infected.
The accuracy of serological, or blood tests, to determine if a person has developed antibodies to COVID-19 is considered less accurate.

Thats what any normal person would think.
How do they survey the vast homeless population?
Lock ‘em all up! The entire county! (sarc/off)
They far left has to shut down the polling places in OC because conservatives are like lepers.
What is the death rate? In San Diego County the death rate is 1.6 %. based on the inflated number of deaths. If an asymptomatic person dies in a motor cycle accident that is counted as a Covid death. In San Diego County the cohort with the highest percentage of Covid cases is people aged 20-29. In SD County, bordering on Orange County, people aged 20-29 are about 14% of the population but they have more than 20% of the cases and their death rate from Covid is tiny.
Look at the numbers. The lockdown cure is far worse than the disease.

Better not allow in-person voting.
Any deaths?, young, school age, young adults, adults , elderly? thought so
Was gonna say....piles of bodies should be stretched from Irvine to the outskirts of Disneyland, no?
So the death rate, as we all thought, is well below 1%. It’s no worse than the Hong Kong flu, a bad flu year but not a pandemic. It is very contagious which strained the hospitals until we learned the best treatments.
The extreme politics that Developed against Trump’s early backing of HCQ probably killed an extra 50,000 in the US alone.
Here’s the problem: the virus has likely mutated several times since the first outbreak in March 2020. As such, most people will just experience essentially a cold.
H1N1 infected 61 million in US.
If COVID19 is more contagious than swine flu, there may be more than 25 million current unrecognized cases. Most are mild or asymptomatic.
I agree, and those governors that banned that therapy - because they hated Trump - should be sued and held responsible for these deaths.
A reasonably conservative county in S. California. Of course they’re going to have higher COVID numbers!
“Equals seven times less deadly, yes?”
Yes.
People had it and didn’t know.
OC academia Trying to suppress any last minute OC Conservative voting surge.
It shouldn’t work, as GOPers tend to be less in fear of Cvid than the Libs.
“Heres the problem: the virus has likely mutated several times since the first outbreak in March 2020. As such, most people will just experience essentially a cold.”
This is all talk. Theoretically possible. There are plenty of observed polymorphisms.
No evidence it’s properties have changed, though.
Yes.
But the hockey stick __/ of “cases” keeps rising!
“Don’t look, Ethel!”
The population of Orange County is approximately 3,198,000. The number of COVID death rates is 1,468.
That's a fatality rate of .000459. That's approximately five ten-thousandths of 1 percent.
And for this we're supposed to live in fear, isolation, and a trashed economy.
