Poll: Trump, Biden in Statistical Tie for Maine Battleground District

President Donald Trump and Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden are in a dead heat as they vie for the one electoral vote in Maine’s Second Congressional District, according to a poll released Thursday.

While Biden maintains a double-digit lead statewide, the poll found his lead slimmed down to within the margin of error, 49 percent to 46 percent, in the state’s rural Second District, placing the candidates in a statistical tie there.

The poll was conducted by SurveyUSA and commissioned by FairVote October 23–27, notably overlapping with several campaign appearances, including from Trump himself in a surprise visit Sunday; Biden’s wife, Jill Biden, Tuesday; Trump surrogates Corey Lewandowski and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, among others, Wednesday; and Donald Trump Jr. Thursday.

Whoa another poll that understates Trumps rural support. I am shocked.

“Spoke to someone familiar with the Trump camps polling. With a few days left, these are some of the states they are confident in: FL, AZ, NC, Maine 2nd district, Nebraska, Pennsylvania and Texas. Not confident: Michigan.
Public polls show they’re down in most of these states.”

I hope the Trump (and Collins) campaign are explaining Maine’s ranked choice voting system to voters. It could end up deciding both elections.

To clarify, that refers to Nebraska's 2nd Congressional District and its 1 electoral vote. The state as a whole wouldn't vote Democrat even if hell froze over repeatedly.

And seeing as how this comes from a biased liberal source, it's possible to discount the alleged pessimism about Michigan.

The CNBC political finance reporter is not an anonymous source.

Along with hundreds of others, I stood in very cold rain for 3 hours to see Don Jr. last night just outside of Bangor. Statistical tie? Sorry, I just don’t see it. We’re heavy Trump Country here in Maine-2!

Another great news....yes... Maine might be nuts according to non Mariners, but if you put Kittery to Portland to Massachusetts, it would be a Red State...

This is basically ALL of rural Maine...it’ has gone back and forth over time, but DJT won by 10 points in 2016...

The Congressional seat flipped back to the DIMS in 2018, but barely...

Could be another Trump elector and a pick-up toward control of the House...

Lobsters Up...!

This sounds like great news, and an opportunity to help a few Senate candidates. If John James can flip that seat in Michigan, it would be icing on the cake.
