many of todays young people neither understand nor respect the importance of property rights in a free society..

Philadelphia .. at least 30 police officers have been injured in the violent unrest, while dozens of people have been arrested for rioting or vandalism. Mobs have descended on Walmart and rushed out carrying TVs, while other agitators ransacked Footlocker for new sneakers. The full number of businesses ravaged by the destruction is increasing and still being tallied.
...
This latest outbreak simply adds to the thousands of businesses, from Chicago to Minneapolis and beyond, that have been rioted, ransacked, burned down, or looted in the ongoing period of political unrest over police brutality, both real and imagined. All told, the damage from rioting in recent months will exceed any past period of civil unrest in American history, with even modest under-estimates putting the total cost at up to $2 billion.
The outbreak of mass rioting and looting across America is alarming in its own right, but equally chilling is the publics support for the violence. .. college students in particular overwhelmingly believe that rioting and looting is justified.
...
One key finding from the poll was that 64 percent of college students agreed that the recent rioting and looting is justified to some degree. Only 28 percent disagreed with this assessment.

Property rights are human rights.
...
If business owners and investors cant feel secure in their property in an area, they take their investment elsewhere. This means that in areas that are looted, there are fewer jobs and fewer opportunities over time.

Rioters and looters are scum who are unfit for civilization.
100% of me says shooting looters is justified.
All the more reason to defund all colleges and let them close if need be. They’ve gone was past schools of higher learning into indoctrination centers with radical left professors........this BS has gone on for way too long!
Soooo, they won’t mind if we go on campus and start looting and burning things down?
100% of property owners say it is OK to defend their property.
Countless number is a Big Lie. Pure agitprop.
This is what I have been hoping. Riots in the burbs is what the soccer moms need to have on their doorsteps for anything to change.
DEFUND colleges. And convert them to prisons. Let them riot inside a jail cell and loot from other prisoners.
I don't trust anything academic published after 2010. The militant craziness started the following year, with Occupy Wall Street, and snowballed.
Of course students would say that, they usually are the laziest people on the planet. This nation should require a 5 year solid work history for people prior to entering higher education.
Admin, please remove US:Washington as a tag. This has nothing to do with Washington State
What the mayors and city councils of these cities are worried about is that they will be held liable for the damage and shootings. The father of one of the teenagers who were shot in the Seattle autonomous zone sued the City of Seattle, the mayor and the State for standing back and letting his son be murdered. The man went on FOX and did a half hour interview with Hannity and announced his law suit, Nothing more was ever reported about the story. My guess is that the city settled out of court and demanded that the records be sealed. Facebook banned me from access to my own account for repeatedly asking what became of the law suit. So, you know it is a big deal. Everyone, whose business was damaged would be suing the city after The mayors foolish, Simmer of Love Block Party announcement.
The whole idea behind the riots would be destroyed if the cities were held responsible. I should mention that a video of the shooting did surface on the internet. You cannot see the boys inside the car, but you can see the the gunmen, standing outside the car, firing multiple times into the car and the flashes from the guns.
