The next “joys-of-life”targets in COVID-19′s sights?: Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas open houses and other traditionally indoor house parties.
With new coronavirus case counts surging past springtime peaks in recent days, Pennsylvania’s state Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine earlier this week made an appeal to Pennsylvanians, as they plan for this year’s holiday season, to think seriously about hosting or attending any events with people who you don’t already live with.
“Unfortunately, in this time of the global pandemic of COVID 19, as we approach the holidays, we need to rethink those gatherings. We need to think about more and more gatherings being virtual, or only staying with your family that you live with, that you’re exposed to all the time,” Levine said.
“That’s a sacrifice, but I think that sacrifice can mean that people don’t get sick in your family and in your community, and it would be worth it.”
Levine’s comments were intended as guidance, not mandates.
But still, they put in stark relief the prospect for the ongoing pandemic - which has already reshaped weddings, graduations, summer celebrations - to reshape customary social patterns through the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons.

The fall resurgence is not, the secretary said, due solely to people gathering at high school football games or restaurants or bars or fitness centers.
Often, it’s just being with your friends.
“We have seen increasing numbers of cases linked to small gatherings of people who may even be familiar with each other, but they’re not masking; they’re not washing their hands; they’re not social distancing,” Levine said during her COVID briefing on Monday. , She did not provide any specifics on case trackbacks to such events Monday.

I hear that many of our Teenage Americans are having a hard time with all this sheltering and isolating. My guess is most would rather be going to school and spending time around their friends. Adult-Free Peer groups are very important to most adolescents.
How do these people get elected?
