I posted article about John Pipers opinion. And its stunning to me how some in the Christian world are taking him more seriously than even Catholics take the pope! Isnt Protestantism all about individual conscience before God? Who cares what Piper says?! Hes totally depraved like everyone else. And could actually learn a thing or two from Trumps better qualities.
We're looking at YOU, John Piper...
Excellent post and spot on.
I was born Protestant but, for about two years, I have been studying Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy. I admit to despising Pope Francis, but I love the Catholic Church.
I have taken notice at how some freepers absolutely worship John Piper. Personally, I despise the idea of “Superstar” preachers such as Piper. For example, my mom practically worships John Hagee. I’m no fan of Hagee but I dare not express that fact because, if I do, my mother will become hysterical and tell me that I’m going to Hell.
Thank you for stating the truth about Piper.
He looks at the individual’s shortcomings rather than the global view of the good a person does
Protestantism should be about: "What sayeth the Word"? - Sola scriptura and all.
It most assuredly is not. Your talking about the Theology of Disney.
Romans 1
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith
Martin Luther's conscince wouldn't allow him to deny what the Bible plainly states is true. But Luther's conscience didn't determine what is true.
Romans 3:3
3 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged
“And its stunning to me how some in the Christian world are taking him...”
That is strange. Have never heard of him. And, it seems, have not missed a thing.
