A New York City firefighter has been moonlighting as a stuntman — while also raking in a $136,684-a-year disability pension, The Post has learned.

Firefighter John A. McGinty retired with the lucrative annual payout in 2016 after 25 years with the FDNY.

But it turns out McGinty, 58, has been working for years as a professional movie stuntman, according to his own LinkedIn page.

McGinty — who also goes by the stage name John Mack — says he is adept at fighting, driving stunts, falls below 30 feet and small fires, according to a profile on management site CMG Talent.

even crimes in staten island’s good areas are going up because the bad guys have nothing to fear regarding jail time.

I’m 52.

Tired of people and no ties here except mother. And my sisters take care of her.

Looking at places in PA with virtually no one around for a half mile in any direction.

The search begins

This is why the ‘blue ones’ are in their own world. I don’t want to be ‘friends’ or neighbors with these free loaders. Its just immoral to take all that money, its tax free to boot when it pegged disability.
Unless they give 75% of their proceeds to pro-life charities, I say immoral.

I’m not going to bail the guy out, but I have not found out what his disability is as it is not listed anywhere in any of the articles I read. So until that comes out we may not know the reason he was listed disabled and put on the shelf for that position. A for instance, is his eyesight going and he is not capable of discharging a weapon which probably would be a must in the law enforcement field. (Did you know that professional baseball umpires must have no less than 20/20 vision without glasses or they can’t work unless they were working before the rules was put in and they were thus grandfathered? I don’t think there are any left with glasses or contacts)

Could his arthritis make it painful to accomplish some tasks within the job description like even writing? There are possibilities that we don’t have enough information on like these I displayed. So, is it wrong to take money and continue to work elsewhere. Yes, if it is legal.

He may have ptsd, which is a real condition that wouldn’t necessarily prevent him from being employed as a stuntman, depending on what caused his ptsd. Could be r/to 9/11. I didn’t read the original article, though.

Just read the entire article; disabled due to let and hip injuries. So, yeah, he’s a fraud.

About 25 years ago, a NYC firefighter got a disability pension, but that didn’t stop him from becoming a firefighter in Broward County, Florida.

Leg, hip and spinal problems, per article.

Can fall 30 feet to do stunts. Sure.

My brother has badly injured lumbar discs. He can’t lift, but he can do strenuous activities that extend rather than compress the spine.

No public pension should be calculated on the last year’s overtime or accumulated sick leave/ vacation time as this guy’s must have been. Base pay only.

This is extremely common amongst police and firefighters. Stories about it are a bit of ‘dog bites man’.

“No public pension should be calculated on the last year’s overtime or accumulated sick leave/ vacation time as this guy’s must have been.”

When I was forced retired in 2013 from the Pentagon working for the DOD, I had used up my sick leave and was forced to either file for personal leave or give it up. I used the last day of it and walked. With the money he’s making in retirement, he must have been highly paid for the position. But I was seeing a lot of people coming down on him for his perceived dishonesty and I wasn’t sure if it was or the article was trying to make it that way. Thanks for the info.

PTSD is another of the disabilities that could allow a certain amount of employment. Physical employment could be one of those jobs. There are others, but the article appeared to be trying to make him the villain in this and I’m not sure what he was guilty of as their perception had no real basis or proof, or even what it was. It looked like a hit piece rather than information like you might see on a grocery checkout rack.

Well, as I wrote in a subsequent post, I went back and read the original article, and his disability was for leg and hip injuries, so he probably IS a bad guy.

There is a lot of disability fraud out there. My ex worked with a guy who was on disability for a back injury, but he was jumping and hopping around on stage with his rock band while he was no longer “able” to perform maintenance duties for the housing complex he was supposedly disabled from, none of which were that physically taxing.
