Pandemic Fatigue Is Real—And It’s Spreading. Collective exhaustion with coronavirus restrictions has emerged as a formidable adversary for governments

From the corridors of Washington to the cobblestones of Paris, the coronavirus is roaring back and authorities are ramping up restrictions again. This time around, however, everyone is tired.

Hospital staff world-wide are demoralized after seven months of virus-fighting triage. The wartime rhetoric that world leaders initially used to rally support is gone. Family members who willingly sealed themselves off during spring lockdowns are suddenly finding it hard to resist the urge to reunite.

Zoe Sharp, a 43-year-old human-resources leader in Washington, D.C., has been stringent with her family throughout the pandemic, sanitizing elevator buttons, airing out packages and microwaving the newspaper. Her 4-year-old son Hank even created a no-cuddle list to protect family members who are more vulnerable to the virus, like his grandparents.

A week ago, however, something snapped. Ms. Sharp booked a trip to visit her father-in-law in Memphis, Tenn., replete with a stop at the local theme park. Grandpa is now off the no-cuddle list.

“I need something to look forward to,” Ms. Sharp says, adding that her children “want to see their grandfather. They’re worried about him, and they talk about him a lot.”

The collective exhaustion—known as pandemic fatigue—has emerged as a formidable adversary for governments that are counting on a high degree of public cooperation with the latest rounds of restrictions to flatten the infection curve. Too much pandemic fatigue, authorities say, can fuel a vicious cycle: A tired public tends to let its guard down, triggering more infections and restrictions that in turn compound the fatigue.

That is part of what is driving the recent spate of policy reversals. Bars and cafes that reopened after the spring lockdown are suddenly off limits again. Workers who were told to return to their offices are now being asked to work from home if possible.

Oh, heavens! The people are tiring of overreaching government control! What do we do? What do we do?

I know! Circulate stories promoting the need for more government control! Brilliant!

Until they can explain why flu diagnoses have dropped 98% there’s not much reason to believe that the flu isn’t being misdiagnosed as Corona.

Most of us here went along with the masks and the social distancing for one reason, and one reason only.

Trump asked us to.

I've been predicting for some time that as soon as we reached the point where people simply REFUSE to comply, China will release the lethal version.

I hope I'm wrong...

The government wants to disarm us after 244 yrs 'cuz they plan to do things we would shoot them for!

At no point in history has any government ever wanted its people to be defenseless for any good reason ~ nully's son

Although they’ve kept this thing going right up to the election with the clever move of counting cases rather than hospitalizations and deaths, these morons are still trying to sell the idea to an increasing number of I’ve-about-had-it-with-this-crap public that the way to “defeat the virus” is by reimposing the lockdowns, mandating muzzle-wearing and enforcing anti-social distancing which will cause the Chinese Covid Cooties to give up and go away ... and up to now people have been buying — even encouraging — this garbage. I’m so very tired of the lies ... non-stop, neverending lies.

You can fool all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, and that usually suffices...

So glad Trump us pushing back on this bull sh*t! He needs to keep pushing harder about ending these lockdowns, and talk of new lockdowns!

The virus is spreading even with those who’ve been lockdown since March! Lockdowns do NOT work! They only prolonged the inevitable!

Time to begin hanging politicians!

By all appearances they MANUFACTURED a body count by DELIBERATELY shoving infected patients into nursing homes in blue states to scare the bejeebers out of the public into going along.

Andrew Cuomo needs to meet his date with the gallows.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

The false positive rate was 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Quarantine the sick. Protect the vulnerable. Free everyone else.

If this truly were a serious illness people would respond. But this is not even the flu except for the sick, fat, or old, and then only some of the elderly. It may be even less than a cold for normals.

It is CLEARLY government overreach, and worse than that, suppression of truth, self-administered prophylactics, and sensible ways to improve the immune system, which would not only prevent of minimize the China Flu symptoms, and other illnesses.

The TRUTH is that ALL these measures are the Deep State at work, trying to control things since they have no control over the President.

“Until they can explain why flu diagnoses have dropped 98% there’s not much reason to believe that the flu isn’t being misdiagnosed as Corona.”

What I’ve heard is that covid-19 went through those who most likely would succumb to flu in any given year and took them out before the flu season could hit the ground running.
