Lindey Graham dismisses criticism from Lou Dobbs

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who is battling for his Senate career in a toss-up re-election race, on Sunday brushed off a sharp attack from Fox Business host Lou Dobbs, telling reporters, “I don’t really worry much about Mr. Dobbs.”

Graham, when asked whether he wanted President Trump to stand up for him against attacks from the right, said Dobbs “has a right to his own opinion” but “people at home get the big picture.”

“I think people in South Carolina understand why it’s important for me to get re-elected,” Graham said.

Dobbs on Friday expressed incredulity over why conservatives are backing Graham’s re-election, criticizing Graham for not using his position as the chairman of the Judiciary Committee to investigate allegations made by Trump that the Obama administration improperly investigated his 2016 presidential campaign.

“I don’t know why anyone in the great state of South Carolina would ever vote for Lindsey Graham. It’s just outrageous,” Dobbs said.

Dobbs' salvo comes at a time when Graham is trying to rev up conservative support to win a fourth Senate term.

The non-partisan Cook Political Report, a respected handicapper, moved the South Carolina Senate race into the “toss-up” category earlier this month. It was previously rated a “lean Republican” race.

Graham has been dramatically outraised by his Democratic opponent, Jaime Harrison, who reported collecting a jaw-dropping $57 million in the third fundraising quarter of 2020.

Graham recently pleaded for more financial support during an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News.

Dobbs, however, took a swipe at Graham’s support from the right by accusing him of being an unreliable ally of the president.

“Graham has betrayed President Trump at almost every turn,” Dobbs said. “He has betrayed the American people and his oath of office. He’s done absolutely nothing to investigate Obamagate except to tell everyone, ‘Stay tuned,’ time and time again. Stay tuned. Senator Graham needs to be tuned out in South Carolina.”

Graham on Sunday quipped “I’m sad to say I missed it” and chuckled but didn’t appear too shaken by the attack.

“I think Chuck Schumer is of the same opinion,” he added with another chuckle, referring to Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.)

Graham said he plans to campaign on Tuesday after the Senate votes to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court Monday evening.

Graham also responded to White House chief of staff Mark Meadows’s statement on CNN Sunday that “we’re not going to control the pandemic.”

“We need a vaccine. We need a vaccine. Until we get a vaccine, it’s going to be just holding the line. It’s all over the world, guys. We’ve had every model from herd immunity to lock the whole world down, it’s still a problem,” he said.

The time to oppose people like Graham is in the primary. To suggest electing a Dem would be an improvement is just plain crazy. I like Lou Dobbs, but he is off base here.

Dobbs has a point in that Graham has been silent about much of the coup attempt on Trump.
...........
However, once Graham won the primary, there is no choice to support him in every way, lest we let a dem in. Dobbs spoke out of turn.

Dobbs isn’t doing us any favors with those comments.

Its not that Dobbs is wrong, but this isn’t the time.

And party control of the Senate is a huge huge reason to vote for Graham.

Dobbs is to stupid to realize it isn’t RINO season.

"Dobbs has a point in that Graham has been silent about much of the coup attempt on Trump."

Graham's actions and non-actions strongly suggest that he was a willing coup participant.

Graham did have three primary challengers, Lou. Which one did you endorse again?

Two years ago, I would have gleefully voted Graham out of office. At this critical point, however, we cannot afford the loss of the Senate seat. Lindsey gets a ride on the all red express on 11/03/20 🇺🇸👍

>>The time to oppose people like Graham is in the primary.

The problem is that SC is an open primary, so all the rats vote to keep Grahamnesty. Most times they don’t even run a candidate of their own. The SC conservatives need to end that practice if they ever want to get rid of Lindsey.

but, for now, pubbies are stuck holding their noses and voting to have Graham betray the country for another 6 years.

Lindsey has been compromised

He has a nickname with the call boys of DC, “Lady G”

He’s owned by the FBI and swamp

I have no problem losing this seat, in fact, we should so we can move on from this compromised disaster

It’s an open primary. The Democrats will vote for Graham over any other Republican candidate.

Roger that. Lou has been off quite a bit lately.

How about a ‘moderate Republican’ run as a Democrat? Can you Alinsky them?

Perhaps the cranky Mister Dobbs would much rather see Schumer and the Dems in control of the US Senate, yes?
What a load of nonsense.
Graham is not perfect, but he is still a billion times better than any Democrat.

The problem with these entrenched, swamp dwelling Senators is that their campaign treasure chests are DEEPLY funded....by Mitch, lobbyists, etc.

A challenger has next to no chance in heck in unseating them.

Same situation with John Cornball Cornyn, in TX. We’ve tried, but he outspends any opponent, 100x....with non-stop attack ads.

Then, they get another SIX year term, without term limits.

Does anyone really believe Graham is nothing less than compromised swamp scum that should be investigated right along with all the rest?

Corruption is still corruption even if it has an R next to it.

Or are there 2 tiers of justice?
