Oh my. I understand crews are on standby awaiting the winds to subside. Good luck.

39 mph?
Does that mean the storm itself is faster than a tropical depression?

Surf still rambunctious this morning. Wind has subsided. Got up to TS around midnight, and then about 3 AM when a feeder band storm blew up. Never did get a big storm surge, though some waves lapping up to dune line. Few power outages over this way. Mostly Escambia County (Pensacola), about 5%.

Yeah...39 mph is faster than the average driver speed around Atlanta.

More than 1 million without power in GA. Many early voting locations delayed opening.

We made it through in one piece, but it got awfully rude about 3 AM. All sorts of heavy debris was hitting the roof and waking my wife up. Need to go inspect the yard.

Family got hit a little but not bad.
Us (Montgomery) - about one third of our largest Myrtle tree disappeared. No limbs in yard or neighbors. Have no idea where it went. No leaves remaining on trees. Tomato plants trashed. trampoline moved about 10 feet across yard and up against fence.
Son (Montgomery) - Large oak tree through deck and sun room, chimney toppled.
Daughter (Buford, Ga) - multiple trees down but has power. Neighbors house has oak tree on roof and another that crushed both cars.
Son (Alex City, AL) - trees down in yard, no power, no damage to house.
Brother (Gulfport, Ms) - no power, tree limbs down.
Niece (Gulfport, MS) - No power, trees down, no damage to house.

Still alive in Tallassee, Lol! Never lost power, although it flickered a few times between midnight and 1:30 am or so.
I heard Montgomery and Auburn are without power.
At 12:34, my Acurite 5-in-1 weather station tripod fell over due to wind. The last recorded gust was right at that time at 27 mph, and then 0 the rest f the night. So I don’t know the highest we got.
I propped it back up this morning, but one leg is really wobbly.
Got to find a new tripod. And get my generator fixed.

The “eye” is passing just a few miles south of us in Virginia right now. It’s over Floyd. Just rain here, no wind

Glad to know everyone is safe. That is quite an inventory of damage. Does this mean you will have multiple house guests in the near future?

Great news that you have electricity. Sorry to learn your weather station is gimpy. And your generator.

Stroke of good fortune that you are located north of the eye. Thanks for checking in with your local report.

Does this mean you will have multiple house guests in the near future? We always have house guests. Normal question is "What are you cooking today? Will there be enough if we come by?"
My wife finally learned to quit asking why I always make enough for 5 or more "when it is just us".

Uh-oh! Sun’s out!! LOL An anomaly. Supposed to be cloudy and drizzly all day. There’s a lot of little leftover rain bands out there. Cold front sweeps in tonight and it’s going to get down into the mid 30’s by Sunday night. Contractors are just finishing my flue pipe and rain cap for my living room fireplace today, too. Sounds like a good weekend to test it.
