I hear New Orleans in direct path now. Also note wind field is very large, added to very fast moving storm. Expect wide swath of power outages.
Good to hear your generator is ready.

We in Panama City Beach this week, about a mile east of Bay/Walton county line. Just got back from our morning beach hike, and the surf is kicking up. A little breezy. Can’t detect that the water level has risen any. High tide here about dark tonight. Looking for surf to get up to the dune line, or thereabouts.

UGH. 2020 just needs to END!
Zeta is moving so fast they are now saying it will still be carrying winds of 60-70 MPH as it roars through Central Alabama.
Was hoping it wouldn't intensify like it has, but definitely looking like CAT II at landfall now. Plus, as is the norm with late season storms its fast movement will allow it to stay at tropical storm strength much further inland than normal.
The bright side to the fast movement is that rainfall will be limited and generally under 5 inches in most places.

My crystal ball sees a large swath of power outages from the Gulf coast to the DelMarVa peninsula.

Let’s hope power outages don’t interfere with voter turnout through Nov. 3.

My crystal ball sees a large swath of power outages from the Gulf coast to the DelMarVa peninsula. agree. The two brightsides here - The storm is riding a cold front, so high temps are only supposed to be 70ish tomorrow and Friday which will let us open windows and not need AC, and all our power lines are buried and we are less than a mile from the substation, so we usually are among the first to get power back.

Anticipate election poll dates/times will be extended by as long as the electricity is out in affected areas. Think New Orleans, which will likely take a direct hit from Zeta Express.

Considering the support for Trump in minority communities, it could be a coin toss.

As I understand it, President Trump has a new, improved, portable hurricane machine. Development of the travel-size gizmo was one of the early mandates DJT implemented during his first 100 days in office. POTUS was reportedly using the machine for dueling TS Gamma and Hurricane Delta during his COVID-19 stay at Walter Reed Hospital. Twitter, Facebook and Google have censored information related to this ingenious gadget.
