Carlos Zapata has a message for any government official who shows up at his Tehama County restaurant and tries to enforce Californias pandemic shutdown orders.
Ive made it very clear that if they come to shut us down, Im going to call 100,000 people thatll be there with guns, and what happens happens, you know? Zapata said Tuesday. Im hoping that theyre not stupid enough to want that kind of a fight over a restaurant being open, but if they want it, well definitely give it to them.
Its not the first time the Red Bluff restaurant owner and U.S. Marine combat veteran has made those kinds of threats. A few weeks ago, he told the Shasta County Board of Supervisors to expect trouble if they enforce Gov. Gavin Newsoms COVID-19 restrictions on local businesses.
Right now, were being peaceful, he said in a short speech that has since made Zapata a celebrity among far-right groups. But its not going to be peaceful much longer.
Just about anywhere else in California, that sort of talk would have been widely condemned. But here, in whats arguably the capital of the State of Jefferson a decades-old movement to break off conservative northern counties from Democrat-controlled California many have shrugged Zapata off as commonplace.

Welcome to Butte County. Been here for 25 years....Except for the current wildfire danger...it is beautiful, the local politics are pretty much common sense (wild things come out of Chico from time to time) and the people are both salt of the earth and very asute...
j/k
One other thing Huskrrr, there is a vibrant amateur radio community in the county. PM me for more information.
I've been going up to Mt. Shasta just about every year for decades, beautiful country, and quite the opposite of San Francisco Bay Area. I often dream of having a cabin there nestled among the trees near or in the city of Mt. Shasta. In the land of Jefferson. Northern California and parts of Southern Oregon should have become a separate state of Jefferson, where normal nice people live.
Compared to the current state of America, the tea tax was nothing.
The government needs R-E-P-R-E-S-E-N-T-A-T-I-V-E defined for them.
Wasn’t Jefferson a raciss?

Yes, I’m not surprised that you saw this article in that Chinese Newspaper Sacramento Be ... Marxist.

A major topic Mrs. K and I talk about. Somewhere that doesn’t have thousands of homeless and drug addicts all around you, where you are not safe going outside (latest warning is about gas stations, to be aware you may be robbed when you get out of your car to pump gas), where government doesn’t try to take all your money and yet only provides you crap for services and the infrastructure is all falling apart.
The British elite of the times had morals that would embarrass alley cats;rather like our current Democrats.
In the meantime every property/home owner in California needs to vote yes on Prop 19. Property tax savings for every/all home makers 55+.
A younger relative he and his wife will be 55+ live in a bay area county.
Their property taxes had an increase of over $12,000 to pay for teachers/ B$ school expenses in the last 2 years.
They have not had a child in a local school for years.
Yes, I’m still a long time advocate of the state of Jefferson.
Prop 19 might enable us to still own a home when the State of Jefferson happens.
Like these:
Yes, the Founders went to war over taxes on stamps, etc. Yet we do nothing when income is taxed at 50%. We have grown soft.
Just who are you referring to as Marxist?
