Pennsylvanias Supreme Court ruled unanimously Friday on a key concern surrounding an avalanche of mailed ballots, prohibiting counties from rejecting them if the voters signature on it does not resemble the signature on the voters registration form.
Two Republican justices joined five Democratic justices in the decision.
The verdict was a victory for the states top election official, Kathy Boockvar, a Democrat who had asked the court to back her up in a legal dispute with President Donald Trumps campaign and Republican lawmakers.
County boards of elections are prohibited from rejecting absentee or mail-in ballots based on signature comparison conducted by county election officials or employees, or as the result of third-party challenges based on signature analysis and comparisons, the justices wrote.
Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden are locked in a battle to win Pennsylvanias 20 electoral votes. With Democrats voting by mail at an almost 3-to-1 rate over Republicans, the prospect of disqualified ballots poses a greater threat to Bidens candidacy.

Apparently Biden voters can't keep their signature straight.
It can get worse. In WA state the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 against releasing the Green River Killer on parole, to save him from getting COVID. One vote short of releasing a man who kill dozens, and is still not an old man.
Judges are completely out of control. It is the education.
So are they held until they contact the person on file to sanity check it was that person and not fraudulent?
Pennsylvania, land of voter fraud.

Then how could they tell if a ballot has actually been submitted legally, or by someone else?
Oops! Silly me. Any ballot submitted at any time by any person - alive or dead - must be counted.
As a side note, I have voted in many union elections in my lifetime. You had to be positively identified by the person working the door. But I guess voting for assistant union secretary is more important than voting for President of the United States.
Open corruption.
The Founding Fathers believed judges would be men of integrity and sound judgment.
They never conceived judicial standards would collapse.
Two Republican justices joined five Democratic justices in the decision....
Geez.
Thanks.
This needs to go to the USSC. They should file Monday night after you know what.
If I understand this correctly, that means that they would have to contact the person and verify the ballot.
If that’s the case...I can live with that.
What is the point of signatures if they don’t matter?
“mostly peaceful protests”->”mostly legal voting”
Actually the ruling is odd. It says they cant be discarded without the voter having a chance to plead their case it is theirs, if I read it right.. which I have absolutely no idea how they expect that to work.
Vote by mail is causing so many problems. For the life of me, I can determine what was wrong with voting in person on a single day. It has worked well for over 200 years in this country. Sometimes the simple way of doing things are the best and most effective.
“The Chicago Way” is now “The Pennsylvania Way”
It will be appealed to SCOTUS, right after ACB is sworn in on Monday. And we will win.
In our state, if a mail-in ballot has a signature that does not match to one on file, a letter is sent notifying the person of steps they need to take to rehabilitate their signature so their ballot counts. Many times the Dems and the GOP will send out people door to door to get their signatures rehabilitated. The parties know which voters are strong party voters. If all fails to get these signatures, tough luck.
In the RCP battleground states polls, Trump and Biden are tied with where Trump & Hillary were, in 2016 at eleven days before the election. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2020/president/us/trump-vs-biden-top-battleground-states-2020-vs-2016/

My thoughts exactly. Perhaps the SCOTUS can also take up again the 3 day extension in PA as well.
