Australias national rugby team will not take a knee in support of the Black Lives Matter movement after a unanimous vote by the players, insisting they were not interested in making political statements.
The Australian Wallabies face the New Zealand All Blacks next Saturday in a Bledisloe Cup contest in Sydney.
Coach Dave Rennie said the idea of kneeling during the national anthem was discussed by the players and they voted against becoming the first Australian national sporting team to do so.

Good for them!
I’ve tried to watch rugby but I don’t understand all of the rules. Sometimes they seem to kick it away for no apparent reason.
I’ve also tried to watch cricket but have the same kind of confusion. When I was stationed in England we had a guy who would listen to cricket on the radio, but I didn’t.
I was born there but grew up here so my accent got washed away. I’m a citizen but have no accent. I fool em big time down there. :)
We salute you from America!
Great news....
And this should be a real eye opener for the US. When a country halfway around the world, with their horrible racial problems, is making a decision not to take a knee for a created organization that has done nothing to improve the problems in the US, then you know it’s manure. This crap has been going on for months, and has been driven into every home that owns a TV or radio, yet there has been no discussion between any of the main players that can take a look at it together and find a middle ground, at the least. All they can do is negatively affect children or people that don’t pack a lot of intelligence.
The whole thing is politicly motivated and has nothing to do with the problem as nothing is being done with the problem. No one has asked for joint focus groups to work together and only settles on one race. What about treatment of the Irish, or the Mexicans, the Chinese or the Japanese? Do they need to come up with a sport to bitch about the way they were brutalized?
No...it’s just to create unrest. Especially when the people most verbal about it make million dollar contracts and can live in any country they want. But you notice they stay here.

You need leather balls to play rugby.
Bruce Springsteen is saddened, he will be moving there in a few weeks.
“And every form of wildlife there (except koalas & kookaburras) wants to kill you.”
Ever heard of the Dropbear, the koala’s carnivorous cousin?
You're probably talking about 'kicking into touch'.
The idea is it gets the ball further down the field closer to the goal and tryline that you are attacking.
You kick the ball out of bounds and it has to be thrown in again, at the point it left the field.
You're relying on the hope that you are going to be able to recover the ball when it is thrown back into play rather than the opposition - or even if they do get it, you're now deeper into their defensive territory.
It's a somewhat risky strategy because you want to kick it so it goes out of bounds at the closest possible point to the other teams 22 metre line - so you get as close as possible - but without going over the the 22 metre line, because if that happens, they will get a free kick that will allow them to potentially gain a lot of ground in the other direction - but it's a good idea if you can't get the ball down the field any other way and you're running out of time, or if you fear they are about to get the ball off you and you need to get it clear.
Thanks. I think that fits what I’m talking about. I hadn’t noticed the part about kicking out of bounds on purpose and throwing it back in, but I can see that makes all the difference.
I don’t know if you know American football, but you probably do, but the initial analogy would be if a team gets the ball on their own 10 yard line, and then punt it away on 1st down. In American football if you punted the ball out of bounds on purpose the other team would get the ball at that point. But throwing it back in with the hope of getting it much farther downfield makes sense.
I think if I could sit and watch a game with someone who knows the rules that I would quickly know enough to enjoy the game.
Thanks again.
