Cats, glass windows and vehicles: These pose the biggest threats to birds in the United States. But President Donald Trump is continuing to falsely claim that wind turbines are to blame for the deaths of the nation's birds.
During Thursday night's final presidential debate between the president and former Vice President Joe Biden, Mr. Trump reiterated his stance against wind energy with a peculiar claim: It "kills all the birds."
"I know more about wind than you do," Mr. Trump told Biden when moderator Kristen Welker turned to the topic of climate change. "It's extremely expensive. Kills all the birds. It's very intermittent. Got a lot of problems."
According to a recent study, North America has lost more than a quarter of its bird population since 1970, a possible sign of an ecological crisis. And while wind turbines are responsible for some bird deaths, they are nowhere near the biggest threat to bird populations in the nation.
According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, cats are the number one threat to birds, responsible for approximately 2.4 billion bird deaths each year. Collisions with building glass are the next deadliest threat, killing about 599 million birds, followed by collisions with vehicles, which cause about 214.5 million bird deaths.

One of my cats got a bat once.
In the house.

I guess they never heard what the windmills are called in California. Condor Cuisinart.
Deadly for birds of prey.
One other note, re PV systems. Their inverters need a source of high voltage AC power, in order to phase their AC to the grid. Additionally, the Inverters are mandated by code to not operate when grid tied, if the grid is not energized.
They don’t work at night and the batteries have to be replaced about every 5 yrs, which is a major percentage of the PV system cost.
Remove fossil fueled power industry and at max you might only glean about 5% of available capacity to meet the demand, i.e. 95% go without power.
With the Democrats and Socialists controlling who gets power, you can bet they will keep theirs while they tell others they will let them eat cake.
So cats are killing hawks and other raptors. That is some kitty cat!!
Idiot reporting like this is sadly typical. “Birds” is quite a range of species. So just claiming that birds are killed by cats or turbines or cars or pesticides without getting specific about just which birds are being killed is rather misleading.
That's gonna cost big bucks.
My mother always got freaked out when they brought her dead birds too.
But you have to understand, to a cat a dead bird is the most wonderful gift on earth. They are showing that they really, really love you....disturbing as it may be.
I once spoke to an engineer who worked on wind turbines.
He said that the general public does not understand the enormous stresses that are placed on the gearbox by those massive turning blades. Keeping them working requires regular, intensive maintenance.
Unfortunately he said the typical owner just blows off the maintenance and milks what he has until his government subsidies run out.
So yes, your landfill comment is spot-on.
Truth is that windmills kill birds and Democrats are nothing more than Bird Haters. Someone needs to tell them to STOP their endless mean spirited angry Bird Hate!
You do know that these machines kill countless bats?
When was the last time that fluffy killed a golden eagle or a great horned owl?
I remember that!.................
Saw a hawk hit a dove one morning in my back yard. Looked just like that..................
Notice the bird at the upper right who veers off

Until the President mentioned this the Sierra Club was mentioning that many large rare birds are being killed by the wind turbines. A turbine in its lifetime will never equal the energy it took to build it and the blades that have exceeded their useful life become a liability for disposal.
CBS = Concentrated Bull $hit.
Good for coyotes and other predators.
I prefer solar, it cooks the birds.
California solar power plants ignite birds mid-flight
Joe would agree.
“I’m Tippi Hedren urging you to support the National Alliance for Wind Energy...”
