Big PMW win over BBC (Palestinian Media Watch)

Last week, PMW together with Arnold Roth, demanded that BBC remove its broadcast promoting terrorist Ahlam Tamimi who murdered 15, including Roth's daughter Malki, and to apologize for the broadcast

Itamar Marcus in Jerusalem Post: “BBC’s ‘reaching out’ knowingly to a child murderer… not only supports this past terrorist, it serves as a catalyst for those considering terror in the future. The knowledge that BBC and other media will be there to honor, promote and support them is the fuel that the terror infrastructures need to thrive.”

Arnold Roth: "The BBC's apology ... does not even pretend to deal with the deeply troubling issues that make BBC Arabic's program... in effect a tribute to the world's most wanted female fugitive."

You do yourself and your readers no favor by using unidentified acronyms and by failing to identify, clearly, what the causes are that are being discussed.

The Cause (from the article); "[Ahlam] Tamimi planned and coordinated the suicide bombing at Sbarro Pizza in Jerusalem in 2001, in which 15 people were murdered, including eight children, among them Malki Roth, the daughter of Frimet and Arnold Roth."

The Crime: "On 9 August 2001, Tamimi escorted suicide bomber Izz al-Din Shuheil al-Masri (Arabic: عز الدين شهيل المصري‎) to the Sbarro restaurant. She used disguise techniques to deflect attention from herself and al-Masri, wearing a dress that made her appear more like a "Jewish tourist" than an Arab, and using language skills gained in her journalism studies. While al-Masri died in the attack as intended, Tamimi left the area before the bomb detonated." This attack resulted in 145 casualties, including the above mentioned 15 fatalities.

Ms Ahlam Tamimi's statement following the attack: "I admit that I was a bit disappointed, because I had hoped for a larger toll. Yet when they said "three dead," I said: 'Allah be praised'...Two minutes later, they said on the radio that the number had increased to five. I wanted to hide my smile, but I just couldn't. Allah be praised, it was great."

At an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) military tribunal sitting at the Ofer military camp, Tamimi had received 16 consecutive life sentences and an additional 15 years in prison. However she was freed, with 1,027 other Israeli prisoners, in October 2011 for a single IDF Soldier, Gilad Shalit, held by Hamas for 5 years after a cross-border tunnel raid in 2006.

Ms Tamimi now lives in Jordan and hosts a Jordanian talk show, Nasim Al-Ahrar (Breeze of the Free), on the Hamas-affiliated Al-Quds TV. It deals with Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.

The exchange of 1,027 convicted prisoners, tried with active defense and in open court for the single IDF soldier, Gilad Shalit, is still a world record ratio for an exchange I believe. Still, Israel isn’t alone in exorbitant exchanges, look at two of Obama’s. The 5 Taliban Leaders for a deserted soldier, Bowe Bergdahl AND pallets of foreign currency for an Iran Treaty not worth the paper it is printed upon!
