Michael Medved backs both GOP, Dems in 2020 Voters Guide

President: Joe Biden

For 32 years, from 1980 through 2012, I only voted for Republican nominees for president, proudly backing principled conservatives from Ronald Reagan to Mitt Romney.

This time, I am voting for Joe Biden, not because I feel confident that he will reconcile the nation’s warring tribes but because I believe there’s at least a chance that he might. With another term of Trump, there is no chance.

For two reasons, a second term would bring disastrous consequences. First, because a triumphant Trump would view his upset victory as the justification for more divisiveness, crushing deficits and chaotic governance. Second, giving an impulsive president “Four More Years” would bring far more suffering. Even our greatest chief executives, from Washington and Jefferson through FDR and Reagan, suffered significant setbacks in their second terms, paralyzed as lame ducks whose encore agendas never match their first term achievements.

That’s a particular danger in Trump’s case, since he has stoutly refused to sketch out new plans for the years ahead and seems perfectly content to promise more of the same.

Why would any voter want more of this?

Opinion polls show that over two-thirds who say our nation is on the wrong track, with less than a third of us who sense we’re moving in the right direction. We can’t change course without changing leadership at the top. Most Americans understand that dilemma and will, after the resounding rejection the president richly deserves, feel an instant sense of relief and a burst of fresh hope. That also means a new beginning for my party, the GOP, and I hope to participate in many meaningful Republican victories in the future.

He’s probably married to a liberal who has been wearing him down for years, just like Barry Goldwater had happen to him.

I truly thought he passed away.

Well, his mind passed away, but his body is still around. He's one of the walking dead now, or one of the 'empties'.

What’s Medved’s time slot? I listen to Dennis Prager followed by Howie Carr.

Here in Seattle on KTTH it is 12pm - 3pm. I think Jason Rantz is after him from 3pm - 6pm then Ben Shapiro from 6pm - 9pm.

It boggles my mind how fast Shapiro can think/talk. I have to have my "fast listening ears" on when is comes on the air... ha ha ha. I would love to have Shapiro on earlier. Perhaps put someone else on in MM's time slot then Shapiro at 3pm. Anyway, sorry, MM has to go.

I think it would be a good move for him to go to KIRO (liberal except for Dori Monson) or some other more liberal talk show and try to get some of the generational Dims to re-think their position and AT LEAST move them to the squishy middle.

We cannot realistically think that those generational Dims will just turn conservative overnight. It is a process and MM just might be a useful idiot in that process.

Also, just wondering if MM lurks on this site?

Another reason I don’t take the label “conservative” seriously.

He’s compromised. It appears every prominent voice on the right has been activated by someone controlling their strings to come out and back Biden. Michael Steele did it this AM, and now Medved.

It can only mean one thing - Medved is compromised, as is Steele. With a straight face, Medved applied ‘principled conservative’ to Romney.

Someone is pushing their buttons. George Will is going to come out any minute and back Biden too.

You’re probably right about his wife. MM carried a long time flirtation with conservatism encouraged by a few religious Jews like Rabbi Daniel Lapin, but he’s never actually been conservative. He’s 72 and has had throat cancer.

Enemies, both Foreign and Domestic. It’s becoming clearer every day who the domestic enemies are.

uh no. he’s in his right mind.

basically what is happening since 2016 is that Trump and independent/republican true conservatives are exposing/shrinking the liberal republican wing of the uniparty and forcing them into the dem party.

imo, this guy has been leftist since the get go. he’s just been clever at hiding it from the rep rank and file voters.

Damn right, Mike...All we need is a little "reconciling" with Pelosi, Schumer etc... What planet are you on, Mike? I'm pretty sure Rat leaders aren't into reconciling. As their pal Mao said:

We should support whatever the enemy opposes and oppose whatever the enemy supports. MAO-1939
