A little-known Democratic super PAC backed by some of Silicon Valleys biggest donors is quietly unleashing a torrent of television spending in the final weeks of the presidential campaign in a last-minute attempt to oust President Donald Trump, Recode has learned.
The barrage of late money which includes at least $22 million from Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz figures among one of the most expensive and aggressive plays yet by tech billionaires, who have spent years studying how to maximize the return they get from each additional dollar they spend on politics. Moskovitz is placing his single biggest public bet yet on the evidence that TV ads that come just before Election Day are the best way to do that.
The super PAC, called Future Forward, has remained under the radar but is spending more than $100 million on television in the final month of the campaign more than any other group on behalf of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden outside of the Biden campaign itself. And it has been leading a separate, previously unreported $28 million proposed campaign to elect a Democrat to the US Senate from Texas, Recode has learned.
Future Forwards size and strategy is now moving more into the public view. It plans to report to the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday that it raised $66 million in just the 45 days between September 1 and October 15 a haul powered by Silicon Valley billionaires like Twilio founder Jeff Lawson, longtime Google CEO Eric Schmidt, and Moskovitz, who has been one of the most enigmatic Democratic megadonors of the Trump era.

Ask them how much they pay in taxes
Ask them how they account for stagnating degrees wages in the tech industry while they all are multibilliomaires
They write the tax code! Nancy makes sure of that.
In 1988, Silicon Valley went for GHWB (slightly over Dukasis), and has veered hard left ever since. It was depressing living there (politically).
Total waste of money.
Agree.. the volume of ads is irrelevant and unlikely to work
Once money reaches a certain point, it really doesn’t help that much. In fact, you can actually alienate “in the middle” voters with too many ads.
You need enough money to get your message out solidly. After that, it reaches a point of diminishing returns.
A megabucks barrage of ads will work as well for Joe Biden as it did for Michael Bloomers.
I agree. Adds were effective when the voters were vulnerable to them. Now they have been inoculated against them by exposure to them over the years. Call it heard immunity. Of course the consultants know this but they stand to loose millions on dollars once the buyers realize this.
Trump won on a shoestring in 2016. He’s going all out this year: a whole shoe!
And he’s gonna shellac’em!
You need enough money to get your message out solidly. After that, it reaches a point of diminishing returns.
On top of that, they actually need a message as to why anyone would vote for them, and four years of “orange man bad” isn’t going to do it.
They are so screwed, I don’t think they know it yet
They know they’re screwed if he’s re-elected.
Good.
Not acting like they are in the lead...
At least theyre putting this small percentage of their total outlays against Trump rather putting a million per pop into congressional elections, which in many cases are buyable.
India looking forward to tech jobs if Biden-Harris win
I toss 5-6 large political postcards in the recycle everyday. YouTube has become almost unwatchable with their political ads....TV the same.
If people don’t know who they’re voting for by now...they don’t even rise to the level of sheep.
Biden-Harris bought at banner ad at the top of youtube page
So basically they are spending ad money on their own sites and getting it back
Hey silicon valley. If you wake up some night and feel the 9.0 earthquake starting or the 300 ft tidal wave approaching get down on your knees and pray to God...not Biden..to stop it.
Future Forward has remained under the radar???? Thats a joke. Here in the Delaware Valley theyve sponsored what seems like every third or fourth political ad. Until this article I had no idea who FF was.
The valley is full of millionaires and billionaires,, sane ones will vote R.. but sadly, few of them seem to exist or acknowledge they exist or care.
They prefer milking the ATMcow of a gubamint coffer this state has become.
