But they will gladly report on the reporting of the emails.
The corporate media has refused to cover the substance of the New York Posts bombshell reporting on Hunter Bidens recovered laptop and emails, not because theres nothing to the story or because the emails are fake, but because the story itself is, on its face, harmful to Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
Thats not to say news outlets havent been writing about the Posts reporting. Theyve simply decided to cover the meta-narrativethe story about the storywhile studiously ignoring what Hunter Bidens emails reveal about his familys overseas business dealings and influence-peddling.
Heres how it works. Instead of aggressive follow-up reporting on the content of Hunter Bidens emails, which is what youd expect from news organizations, weve gotten a wave of process stories about the anatomy of Posts dubious reporting, censorship stories about Twitter and Facebook, and wild conspiracy theory stories about a rumored Russian disinformation plot.
Last week when all this broke, the focus quickly shifted from Hunter Bidens emails to a decision by Facebook and Twitter to censor the Posts reporting, and, in Twitters case, lock the Posts official account for posting hacked materials (theres no evidence the emails were hacked). When Twitter tried to walk back but also justify its draconian policies, the media reported on that, and when a handful of Republican senators announced theyd be subpoenaing Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey over the imbroglio, the media reported on that, too.
What they didnt report on is the obvious thing the emails reveal: Hunter Biden was trading on his family name overseas, and Joe Biden, despite his many denials, seems to have been aware of this and might have even been a part of it.
Understand whats going on here: The media will report on almost any aspect of this story, no matter how tangential or relatively insignificant, rather than grapple with the story itself.
Almost nothing is too trivial on this front. Over the weekend, we got stories in The New York Times and New York Magazine about behind-the-scenes dissent from a handful of anonymous Post employees who thought the Biden story shouldnt have run. The Times article goes into great detail about whose bylines were attached to the Posts reporting, how long each reporter had been at the paper, where he or she had worked previously, and the process top Post editors went through before publication.
Same for the New York Magazine article, which also tacitly dismissed the substance of the Posts reportingsupposed scoop, purported emailswhile quoting anonymous Post reporters grousing about how theyve been bracing for the Post to go pro-Trump before the election.
What meager follow-up reporting on the substance of the emails has almost all been for the purpose of undermining the Post. The Washington Post, for one, was quick to fact-check the Post by casting vague aspersions on its reporting while failing to offer any new information or insights into the trove of emails detailing Hunter Bidens foreign business deals.
Even more embarrassing have been outlets like CNN and USA Today, which, citing unnamed sources, breathlessly speculated that the FBI was investigating whether the emails were a possible disinformation campaign originating fromwhere else?Moscow. (Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe on Monday laid these feverish rumors to rest, saying the recovered laptop and emails are not part of some Russian disinformation campaign.)
The medias preoccupation with the provenance of the laptop and the emailsare they hacked materials or are they part of a shadowy plot hatched by the Kremlin?is meant to distract the broader public about what the laptop and emails actually contain.
After all, the last thing a media establishment in thrall to the Democratic Party wants to do is ask substantive questions about any of this. Why did a Ukrainian oligarch thank Hunter Biden for an introduction to his father in 2015 when the elder Biden was the Obama administrations point-man on Ukraine? What did Hunter Biden mean when he told a Chinese energy firm that a lucrative deal would be interesting for me and my family?
The press isnt interested, just like they werent interested in a recent U.S. Senate committee report on the Bidens’ complex financial transactions in Ukraine and elsewhere. I mean, if youre not curious why the wife of the former mayor of Moscow would pay Hunter Biden $3.5 million, then youre not going to be curious about any of this other stuff.
To be clear, it doesnt matter what the Post or any other news outlet actually reports, or how airtight their reporting is. It doesnt matter that no one, not even the Biden campaign, has denied the authenticity of the emails in question. It doesnt matter that Fox News has independently corroborated one of the emails that indirectly references Joe Biden as one of six recipients of renumeration packages from the aforementioned Chinese energy firm. It doesnt matter that the laptop came from a Delaware computer store and not, you know, Russia.
The mainstream media will not, under any circumstances, treat this as a serious story. The same media establishment that was willing to perpetuate a years-long Russia collusion hoax, for which it relied on an outlandish dossier paid for by Hillary Clintons campaign, will not countenance the Hunter Biden laptop storyno matter what.
They wont do it for the simple reason that it will almost certainly hurt Bidens White House bid, and they cant have that.
Oh, they will........................
Another excellent article on this topic:
Bottom line: Any journalist who touches this story will become a social outcast and not be invited to the “in crowd” cocktail parties.
Like we need someone to tell us this ... lol ...
Fortunately Fox announced the Murdoch controlled Wall Street Journal, which is a major national newspaper without the tabloid stigma of the Murdoch controlled NY Post, will be featuring a big story on the Joe and Hunter Biden pay for play story in the short future. This should add credibility to the story and put the rest of the MSM on the defensive. Definitely won’t look good for Big Tech blocking the story of the largest circulation major national newspaper in the US.
This is exactly the same strategy I noticed back in the 90s when I used to listen to the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) when I was driving home in the evening.
Political stories about the doings of the Labor party consisted of interviews of Labor politicians or the spokespersons for Labor politicians, who were given softball questions and unlimited time to extol the virtues of their proposals and their promised outcomes.
When they turned their attention to the opposition, the focus of the story immediately changed to the process. Instead of discussing the Conservative party’s objections, or proposals, or policy positions, the CBC reporters talked only about how many votes the Conservatives might get, or which committee this or that Conservative bill had to get voted out of before it could come to the floor, etc.
Listening to their programming night after night, the strategy became perfectly obvious.
No need for another full article about this. They are close allies with the Democrats, and anyone who steps out line will be ostracized and soon find themselves out of a job in a dying industry.
It’s up to the president to report the news Thursday night.
For 4 years, they breathlessly reported on the unverified, debunked Russian dossier. Now, with multiple sources verifying these emails, they go silent. This is completely, entirely unacceptable. Totally unacceptable. Makes me sick to know that, no matter what, they WILL NOT be reporting on these. It’s disgusting.
BLM and the Deep State are just ideas!.....The real problem is White Supremacists.....
Dozens of former “WHITE SUPREMEACIST” intelligence officials signed a public statement Monday expressing doubts about the authenticity of the Hunter Biden emails published by the New York Post.....Wray now has a list of em...Think about it!!
Big Media is a like disco a thing of the past.
The real reason is the media and the DNC are one and the same. This unholy alliance was consumated during the Obama administration when spouses and family members of MSM CEOs and the Obama administration were one big happy family. The media had been biased before, but Obama adopted them and gave them unlimited power and access.
Yup. Getting meta about the story is how they will claim that they did cover it without actually covering it. Time to call the media what they are: the marketing department of the Deep State.
Most people do not know what the meta-data is. By the way what is meta-data :>)
